About Little Swinside Cottage
Little Swinside Cottage is one of 3 cottages at High Swinside located on the slopes of Swinside fell. This tastefully converted barn comes with original features and oak beams. The cottage sleeps 2+ in 1 double bedroom (with up to 2 children on the sofa bed in the downstairs patio room).Most of the accommodation is upstairs including the cosy living/dining room which has a TV, DVD player and a dining table. A door leads from the sitting room into the galley kitchen that is well equipped for a comfortable stay with an electric cooker, microwave, slow cooker, food processor and fridge. The bathroom with a shower over the bath has been recently upgraded. The double bedroom has an oak beamed ceiling and views in 2 directions.
On the ground floor there is a lovely patio room with stunning views across the Lorton Valley. French doors lead out onto a small private terrace with table and chairs. The sofa bed in the Patio Room can be used by 2 children if needed.
Outside is a shared garden that has picnic tables and benches where guests can sit back and relax. There is also an enclosed area where dogs are free to roam safely and there is gated access which opens onto the fells with lots of wonderful walks right on your doorstep.
You can enjoy breathtaking views in our wood fired hot tub for an extra charge
Visiting High Lorton & Exploring Cumbria
The area surrounding the cottage is ideal for walking with walks at all levels from lakeshore paths to the high Grasmoor and Buttermere fells. There are several walks right from the door, and Whinlatter Forest with its mountain biking trails and popular adventure play area is just 3 miles away. Cockermouth town is 4 miles to the north and has beautiful Georgian architecture, places to eat and independent shops. Keswick and Derwentwater are just 8 miles away beyond Whinlatter pass.Other attractions close by include Wordsworth House, the beautiful lakes of Crummock Water, Buttermere, and Loweswater, Castlerigg Stone Circle, Honister Slate Mine, and the Solway coast.
