Drovers Cottage
Drover's Cottage is stunningly located with your very own orchard, stream & woodland. Idyllically rural yet only 3 miles from the bustling book & festival town of Hay on Wye. If you want complete isolation then this old Drover's Holiday Cottage, where drovers have stopped for centuries on their way to the London markets, with magical views across the valley is definitely the one for you. It's now luxuriously appointed & located a mere 400m away from the farmhouse & has been beautifully restored enhancing its original rustic features such as warm lime-washed walls, arrow-slit windows, heated flagstone floors, open fireplace, huge floor to ceiling windows, an open fireplace & an Aga to name a few. Sleeps 2-4 plus up to 2 well-behaved dogs. The Shepherd's Shack
This gorgeous recently restored 2 storey holiday cottage is within the farmyard & is where some of the shepherds stopping here at Drover's Rest used to stay. It is a far cry from the shack it used to be! But we have kept its name to remember its lovely origins. The Shepherd's Shack holiday cottage now has 2 en suite bedrooms & a wonderful wood burner in the lounge. It overlooks the farm's courtyard in the front and you will also have gorgeous views of the sheep grazed common & stream from the rear windows. If you are persistent you may even spot the badgers from the badger sett nearby or even crafty Mr Fox too. The ducks love waddling past the shepherd's shack holiday cottage on their way down to the Pond each morning & evening. Sleeps 2-4 plus 2 well-behaved dogs. This cottage is away from the Drovers Super posh Glamping tents but close enough to enjoy all the activities that go on!Visiting Hay-on-Wye & Exploring Herefordshire
Our 16th Century working sheep farm has been the resting stop of thousands of Shepherds for centuries as they drove their sheep through Wales to the London Markets. They were called Drovers, hence our name & we think it’s pretty apt for Farm Holidays & retreats too!For your break with us, you can expect a truly spectacular rural setting, off the beaten track, where the stars shine brightly at night. Nestled at the foothills of the Black Mountains, only a stone's throw from famous Hay-on-Wye & the Brecon Beacons National Park, so if you can manage to drag yourself away from the farm, there is plenty to do in the area.
