Croftjane Cottage is situated in the picturesque Nith Valley, just two miles from the village of Thornhill and close to Drumlanrig Castle. Surrounded by woodlands and farmland, it offers a tranquil retreat for those seeking a peaceful getaway or an active outdoor adventure. The cottage enjoys a secluded location with stunning views across beautiful Nithsdale, with the Lake District fells visible in the distance.

Inside, the cottage is warm and inviting, featuring full central heating, double glazing and a wood-burning stove. The cosy sitting room is furnished with a comfortable sofa and easy chairs and includes a 40” Smart TV with FreeSat and a DVD player. The well-equipped kitchen features new worktops, an electric cooker, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and other essentials. A charming breakfast/reading room at the front of the cottage offers spectacular views down the valley. Additional amenities include a laundry area with a washing machine and freezer.

The main bedroom boasts a double bed and an en-suite shower room, while the twin bedroom includes a built-in wardrobe. The bathroom is fitted with a bath and an over-bath shower.

Outside, guests can relax in the seating areas, complete with a table, chairs and a swing seat. A kettle BBQ is available and stored in the laundry. The self-contained garden includes a clothes line with pegs provided.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout and mobile coverage is generally good across most networks. Parking is provided on the cottage’s private drive.

Perched on an elevated position near the farmhouse and steading, the cottage offers breathtaking views over the Nith Valley towards the Solway Firth. On clear days, Skiddaw and the northern Lake District fells can be seen. The property is also on the edge of the Galloway Dark Sky Park, making it a fantastic spot for stargazing—occasionally, even the Northern Lights make an appearance.

Outdoor enthusiasts will find excellent walking and cycling routes from the doorstep, with bike hire available at Rik’s Bike Shed at Drumlanrig Castle & Country Park. The surrounding fields are home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, rabbits, hares, pheasants and partridges. Activities such as walking, cycling, horse riding, fishing and golf are all easily accessible nearby.

The village of Thornhill, just two miles away, offers a range of amenities, including the popular Buccleuch & Queensberry Hotel and Thornhill Inn, both with bars and restaurants. There are also grocery shops, a chemist, tea rooms, takeaways, boutique clothing stores, a bank, a traditional ironmonger and the Thomas Tosh art gallery.
