Summary

Fingask Castle sits at the heart of a 250-acre Perthshire estate, half way between Perth and Dundee and only minutes from the A90. Approached by a sweeping drive that crosses a stone bridge above St Peter’s Well, the castle is embraced by ancient woodland, formal topiary and far-reaching southerly views towards the Firth of Tay and the hills of Fife. Scattered around the grounds are a collection of handsome Victorian estate buildings that have been thoughtfully converted into comfortable self-catering cottages. With open fires, modern kitchens and access to estate amenities such as a summer swimming pool, games room and tennis court, Fingask provides an atmospheric base for family gatherings, wedding parties and groups of up to seventy people wishing to explore central Scotland.

Sir Stuart’s House

Sir Stuart’s House is a spacious, lakeside retreat for families, larger parties or smaller groups needing separate rooms, plus well-behaved pets. Its open-plan ground floor pairs a fully equipped kitchen (electric Aga-style cooker, American fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer-dryer, microwave) with a lounge-diner featuring an open fire, TV/DVD, estate logs and rural-speed Wi-Fi, while a generous double bedroom enjoys its own en-suite shower. Upstairs are three twin rooms with en-suite showers, a twin beside a full bathroom and a flexible daybed room next to another bathroom; booking the private garden Bothy adds a twin en-suite, raising capacity to 14. Encircled by gardens and an unfenced lake (children must be supervised), the house offers a patio with brick BBQ and seating, plus parking 100 m away across a footbridge, with a hand cart provided for luggage. (If the Bothy is required please ask for details). Provisional licence number: PK12450P.

Beech Tree Cottage

Beech Tree is a two-storey cottage at the courtyard’s end, heated by oil central heating and a welcoming log fire logs supplied. The ground floor offers a cosy sitting/dining room that opens onto a shared lawn, a fully equipped eat-in kitchen, a double bedroom with en-suite shower and a utility room with washer and WC. Upstairs are three further bedrooms, a single cabin room, a twin and a triple, plus a bathroom, separate family shower room and there is room for an optional camp bed. Garden furniture (Spring–Autumn) and a nearby shared play area with trampoline, swing and climbing frame make this an inviting choice for families or groups. Provisional licence number: PK12318P.

Redwood Cottage

Redwood is a two-storey cottage at the courtyard entrance, opening from a covered parking bay to a shared lawn with seasonal garden furniture. The ground floor offers a fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, fridge-freezer, washer, electric cooker, microwave), a lounge-diner with three sofas, TV/DVD, open fire and table for eight, a garden-view double bedroom and a period roll-top bath with WC—all step-free apart from one front-door step. Upstairs sit two twin rooms (one with sofa-bed and en-suite WC, both with basins), a single bedroom and a separate shower room. Oil heating, firelighters and a generous supply of logs are included. Provisional licence no: PK12399P.

Sycamore Cottage

Tucked in the corner of the courtyard, two-storey Sycamore Cottage opens onto the parking area at the front and a shared lawn with seasonal garden furniture at the back. Downstairs, an open-plan lounge-diner centres on an open log fire and a fully equipped kitchen with fridge-freezer, oven, hob, dishwasher, washer, microwave, kettle and toaster (starter log supply provided). Historic Scone Palace, birthplace of Scotland’s kings, lies just to the west, while the V&A Dundee and the RRS Discovery celebrate maritime heritage on the city’s waterfront. Golfers can be on the legendary fairways of St Andrews in under an hour and skiers in Glenshee in a little over that. Whisky lovers will find the distilleries of Perthshire and Speyside temptingly close, walkers can stride out along the Cateran Trail and cyclists can explore the lanes that ribbon through the Carse of Gowrie.
