River Wye Lodge is a stunning self catering holiday home, located in a pretty part of Gloucestershire at Lydbrook. We are an ideal base for those who want to explore The Forest of Dean and enjoy some of the many wonderful towns and villages nearby.
Originally a coaching inn, this tastefully decorated and furnished holiday home now provides comfortable accommodation for up to 26 people. There is a huge sitting room with wood burner, bar/lounge area and two linked kitchens that are well equipped to cater for your group, including; 3 hobs, 3 ovens, 2 dishwashers, 2 fridge/freezers, microwave oven and all necessary crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment. The dining room comfortably accommodates up to 26 people round one table.
The bedrooms are all made up ready for your arrival, with one of the rooms being located on the ground floor for the less able or those who simply don’t like the stairs. The bedrooms are as follows:
5 double bedrooms – 4 with en suites.
4 twin bedrooms – 3 with en suites.
1 twin and 1 double room with a shared bathroom.
2 family triple rooms – both with en suites.
1 ground floor disabled twin room with wet room.
2 ground floor WC’s.
Outside of our holiday house is plenty of space for all guests to enjoy. There are terraces overlooking the glorious river, a large side patio with barbecues and seating, ample dining furniture for outdoor celebrations and of course the covered hot tub sat high up in the garden to the rear on its own deck. For children, there’s a large paved area to the front for games as well as a playground. The entire site is fenced or walled to a metre high to ensure the safety of children and pets.
On the edge of the village of Lydbrook nearby facilities are superb: a five minute walk will take you to a country pub, an organic cafe, an Indian restaurant, a canoe launch, and the Wye Valley Way for fantastic walking from our large group self catering holiday accommodation. Within a short drive you will reach the heart of the Forest of Dean, where there are a staggering array of activities for people of every age and interest. If that’s not enough, you’re only a ten minute drive from Symonds Yat, Ross on Wye, Coleford and Monmouth for shopping and dining out.
It’s rare on a group holiday that everyone wants to do the same things, especially if you have a multi-generational group – and that is where River Wye Lodge really comes into its own. Some of you will revel in the beauty of the surroundings and the opportunity to spend time together; some of you may simply want to stroll down to the pub or wander alongside the river.
