Accommodation

The bright, renovated rooms have been finished to a high standard, each enjoying picturesque outlooks across the harbour. Guests can step outside to take in the fresh Fife sea air, enjoy a morning stroll around the harbour, wander along the Castle Walk or through Crail’s winding old streets, or simply relax in the window seat and watch the daily rhythm of harbour life.

The spacious lounge is comfortably furnished with a three-piece suite, a cosy gas fire and a 40" TV with a DVD player and library. The room looks south across the harbour wall to the May Isle and westwards to the sandy beach. A window seat provides the perfect spot to read from the extensive book collection or enjoy a game of chess, Scrabble, or backgammon. A butterfly table offers a lovely setting for special meals away from the kitchen.

Through an archway off the lounge is a small study, ideal for catching up on emails or writing, with broadband available throughout the house. The fully equipped kitchen and dining area includes an induction hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and ample crockery and utensils. The dining table is set into a window bay with views over the harbour. Off the kitchen is a utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer, combi boiler and a separate WC.

Upstairs, comfort is key. The master bedroom features a king-size bed, bedside tables, lamps, a dressing table with mirror and fitted wardrobe. Positioned above the lounge, it shares the same southerly view over the harbour to the May Isle. The second bedroom has twin beds, a fitted wardrobe and a westerly view over the harbour.

The modern shower room includes a spacious shower with a large rose, heated mirror with electric shaver point and quality toiletries from Scottish Fine Soaps. The dual-fuel radiator ensures comfort year-round, even when the central heating is off.

Outside, the small front garden enjoys sunlight throughout most of the day and is perfect for morning coffee or afternoon tea. A patio table and chairs are provided and a newly extended seating area offers a peaceful place to watch the world go by.

Guests are welcomed with fresh flowers and a thoughtful welcome pack including bread, oatcakes, butter, jam, milk, coffee and tea. For weekly stays, a bottle of wine is also included. Bed linen, towels, dish towels, toilet rolls, washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets and final cleaning are all provided. Guests are kindly asked to bring their own beach towels.

Visiting the Area

Crail is a charming, unspoilt coastal town and a regular winner of Fife’s Best Kept Small Town award. The high street features a range of essential shops including a Co-op, greengrocer, health food store, bakery, chemist, gallery, coffee shops, a traditional pub with a restaurant and what many consider the best butcher in Fife. There’s also a fantastic local fish and chip shop.

For leisure, Crail offers a boating pond, putting greens, all-weather tennis courts and two beaches, Harbour and Roomebay. The town is ideally located along the Fife Coastal Path, which runs past Harbourside House. Guests can walk east to Fifeness or west to Anstruther, taking in the stunning scenery along the way. Whether you’re strolling through the harbour before breakfast, relaxing in the window seat with a view of local fishermen landing their daily catches, or exploring the coastal path, Harbourside House offers a truly memorable escape in one of Scotland’s most picturesque villages.
