Crossfield Cottages

Summary

Crossfield is an imposing sandstone farmstead which has six self catering holiday cottages that sleep up to 5 people. Our holiday accommodation is hidden in its own idyllic valley in Cumbria, outside of Kirkoswalks near Penrith. Both of our holiday cottages are made up ready for your arrival. Pets are very welcome. There is plenty space for the dogs to enjoy their freedom in the well fenced fields.

Overview

All holiday cottages are professionally and thoroughly cleaned and serviced between each and every let. The beds are made up ready for your arrival. Towels are available at a small additional charge. Colour TV in each sitting room. There is a laundry room with washing machine and iron & ironing board. Rotary drier available.

There is a coarse fishing lake is available exclusively for guests staying at the cottages.

Barley Mow

Stone external granny steps lead to this first floor cottage. All five rooms have clear uninterrupted views across our beautiful Valley. South facing tall Georgian windows which open onto an attractive comfortable lounge, with its magnificent sandstone and oak fireplace. Digital TV with Freeview.

The kitchen/diner is well equipped. The bathroom has a bath with shower, heated towel rail, shaver light/point and hot air blower and radiator.

There are two bedrooms, one with a double pine bed (and room for cot), the other with two/three single beds. Both have fitted wardrobes & bedside tables.

Heating and hot water is electric and charged on meter reading. There are fitted carpets throughout. Truly a home from home for any family or friends sharing. There is a store room for outdoor gear and fishing tackle.

Kitchen: Fully equipped with standard four ring electric cooker, fridge/freezers, microwave oven, food mixer, filter coffee maker, toaster, kettle, sufficient pans, crockery, cutlery, knives, glassware, etc. for the capacity of cottage. A fire extinguisher and fire blanket is fitted in kitchen.

Bedrooms: All beds have electric blankets available, duvets, blankets, pillows with full cotton linen & duvet covers, etc.

Fisherman’s Walk

Four delightful cottages overlooking the lower lake with fenced patio area. Each has a spacious open plan lounge with well equipped kitchen and a breakfast bar.

An open staircase leads to a landing connecting the bathroom and bedroom. The bathroom with airing cupboard has bath with shower, heated towel rail, shaver light/point and hot air blower.
The bedroom is cosy but roomy, with a double or twin pine beds, fitted wardrobe, bedside tables and drawers. Large French windows open onto a full length balcony sheltered by roof overhang.

Farmlands, fells and distant farmsteads form memorable views, while close at hand fisherman quietly play for elusive fish clearly seen from balcony above. Heating and hot water is provided by storage heaters and electric immersion. Fitted carpet throughout except in kitchen area, stairs & balcony. Extra persons/children can be accommodated on sofa beds.

Local Area

We are within easy reach of Ullswater with its Steamer Trips, Hadrian’s Wall, The Scottish Borders and the Yorkshire Dales. The famous Settle to Carlisle railway passes nearby. There are fine historic housed and castles in the area.

Penrith and Carlisle are approximately 12 miles away and Newcastle is around an hour and a half drive.
