Accommodation
Our property is in on a small sheep farm of 80 acres which surrounds the property and runs down to the loch's edge. This spacious house is beautifully furnished and offers a stunning view over the Brough of Birsay and at certain times of the year, you can even see the Northern Lights.The house has 3 lovely bedrooms, each with a super king-size bed. The zip and link beds provide options for 6 single beds. The bathroom has a shower over the bath. A well-equipped kitchen is great for cooking up a feast and includes a range of appliances: washing machine, dishwasher, tumble dryer, fridge freezer and microwave. Savour some delicious food in the dining room. The cottage has a TV and seating in both lounges, whilst an open fire will keep you warm on a chilly day.
The house is powered by renewable energy and on calm days is backed up by oil central heating. There is ample parking and the outbuildings are great for storing outdoor equipment. The garden grounds which surround the house is ideal for relaxing for a glass of wine whilst admiring the glorious views over the loch.
Visiting Birsay & Exploring Orkney
The parish of Birsay is the ancient capital of Orkney. The area offers lots of scenic coastal walks along the coastal beaches or along the cliffs of Marwick Head. You can visit the Loons, Marwick Head and Birsay Moors RSPB Bird Reserve. You can enjoy some free trout fishing at the three freshwater lochs of Boardhouse, Hundland and Swanney. Further attractions to visit include:Kirbuster Museum.
