Set deep in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and tucked away from the clamor of city life, Hill Top Farm lies just a stone’s throw from the picturesque Wensleydale village of Askrigg. Known as the setting for the original All Creatures Great and Small TV series, Askrigg offers a delightful mix of charm and conveniences, including a brewery, a tea room and bakery, a craft shop and three pubs specialising in homemade Yorkshire fare, making it an ideal hideaway for sharing a special occasion with family or friends.
Hill Top Farm sleeps 14 guests across seven elegant bedrooms spread over three floors, all lovingly restored to highlight the inspiring, uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside.
Inside, the layout is varied by levels and steps. The ground floor houses an entrance hallway/boot room flowing into a kitchen outfitted with an island and stools, a double Aga, Smeg appliances, dual dishwashers, Nespresso machine, microwave, Belfast sink and more. The breakfast room seats six (with high chairs available), while an adjacent sitting room offers a warm open fire and seating. The formal dining room seats up to fourteen and leads down to the Great Hall, with its comfortable seating and stove. Off that lie the pool room/bar and a smaller sitting area, plus a cloakroom and a double bedroom with en suite shower.
Upstairs, a landing opens to a library and leads to the master bedroom (king-size bed, en suite), two more double bedrooms (each with en suite), a fourth bedroom with single beds and a family bathroom. On the lower ground floor is a dining kitchen, a sixth double bedroom with en suite bath and a seventh twin room with its own shower en suite.
The property also hosts a cinema, games and gym rooms, with the games room doubling as a small bike store.
Outside features include a paved front driveway, garden furniture, charcoal barbecue, chimineas and ample parking.
One well-behaved dog is welcome (for a small additional charge) and children are welcome with travel cot and high chairs available on request (though cot linen must be supplied). Guests should exercise caution with children around balconies and stairs and be mindful of the countryside code when walking dogs in the area.
Askrigg is a charming village offering two welcoming pubs, tearooms, a bakery, and a local shop. Surrounded by scenic countryside, it boasts a network of footpaths catering to walkers of all abilities. Just a short drive away, the market town of Leyburn offers a range of independent shops, eateries and a market.
