Summary

South Wing is a beautiful 17th century, grade II* listed holiday house available for up to 14 guests. Five very large comfortable bedrooms, well-equipped modern kitchen, oak-panelled dining room and a huge lounge with log burner. Two minutes from a thriving village with several pubs, eateries, a small range of well stocked shops and even a whisky distillery.

Just two miles from the sweeping, sandy beaches of Filey Bay, and perched on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, an area being considered for status as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), South Wing is the perfect base for your holiday.

About South Wing:

With almost 6000 square feet of floor space inside, and an acre and a half of gardens and woodland, South Wing is a great place to be whatever the weather. Kids love exploring the house and grounds with endless opportunities for hide & seek inside and out. Optional hot tub available to rent for the duration of your stay.

We enjoy making the house available families and groups to discover this wonderful part of the UK and have been delighted to welcome more than 600 groups and 7000 guests, many of whom come back year after year. Much of the feedback we get is about how much the kids enjoy playing in this huge, atmospheric house where their imaginations can run wild. They also love exploring the private gardens and woods, building camps, and racing around the enormous lawns.

There are five bedrooms all on the first floor and all are huge and comfortable with lots of natural light and views across countryside and sea.

Bedroom one at the eastern end has a queen-sized bed and a single, with an en-suite shower room. Views to the east over the village and across to Filey Bay, and to the south across the gardens and adjacent golf course.

Bedroom two has a double bed and shares a 'jack & jill' bathroom with bedroom three. Lovely views across the south facing gardens and terraces.

Bedroom three is great for kids to share! It has a double bed plus three singles and shares the 'jack & jill' bathroom. Facing south with lots of lovely natural light and stunning views.

Bedroom four is a twin room with two very comfortable single beds. Views to the west over a small courtyard. A cosy WC with hand basin is next door. Depending on the make-up of your group guests can use any of the bathrooms - we'll let you decide which one:-)

Bedroom five is very grand with a large en-suite bathroom, separate dressing area, cosy snug and even a balcony with views to the South and West - perfect for a quite sundowner after a busy day.

South Wing has an extremely well equipped, large modern kitchen with twin Neff ovens, induction hob, two dishwashers, two large fridge/freezers plus drinks fridge.

Fast and free WiFi keeps you in-touch indoors whilst outside is a huge private garden, a very short walk to pubs and shops and a five-minute drive to sweeping, sandy beaches.

We can arrange for a high-quality hot tub to be delivered, filled and heated ready for your arrival. Tub rental prices vary throughout the year but a weekend hire is typically £250 with a seven-night hire from £325.

There are plenty of indoor and outdoor games and toys and piles of books, puzzles and magazines to keep everyone occupied. If you've forgotten wellies, fishing nets, balls and even wetsuits, you may be lucky and find the right size to borrow.

A Webber BBQ is available plus a large garden table and chairs.

Visiting Hunmanby & Exploring North Yorkshire:

Hunmanby is a large well serviced village 2 miles from the sea and perched on the Yorkshire Wolds. The area also has an abundance of glorious walking including the Cleveland Way and Wolds Way. It’s also a lovely cycling destination with many road and off-road routes to enjoy.

Superb attractions to visit include:

Filey Beach with seven miles of sweeping sands
Yorkshire Wolds, now under consideration as an area of outstanding natural beauty
RSPB Bempton Cliffs to see puffins, gannets and amazing views
Flamborough Head with dramatic cliffs, caves and beaches
Flamingoland, an award winning theme park and zoo
Seaside towns of Filey, Scarborough, Bridlington, Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby
Burton Agnes Hall, Sewerby Hall, Castle Howard
Malton, Yorkshires food capital is a 25-minute drive.
York is a 40-minute drive.
