Thwaite Hall Cottages offers self catering accommodation in Cotherstone. Based near Barnard Castle in a tranquil area of Durham, we are perfect for an idyllic getaway.

Our property, Balder Cottage, is situated in three and a half acres of grounds, including a large back garden wall with flower beds, a paddock, a walled garden and rolling front lawns. We truly are the perfect place to escape from the pressures of modern life.

Inside there is a lounge/dining/kitchen to suit all your needs. The lounge comes with comfy seating, a TV, DVD player and a log fire for those chilly days. Features include beamed ceilings. There is a comfortable double bedroom for a restful night’s sleep and a bathroom. All bed linen and towels are included.

Outside there is seating in the walled garden, great for a coffee in the morning.

We are in an ideal position for discovering all that the local area has to offer. The Lake District, Durham, Northumberland, the Roman Wall, Richmond and York are only 1 hour away. You can visit the magical High force Waterfalls or see the interesting exhibitions at Bowes Museum. Attractions to visit include:
