Taobh-na-Mara is a warm and welcoming holiday cottage located on the shore of Loch Indaal at the edge of Bowmore. Our holiday home is within easy walking distance of Bowmore shops, distillery, restaurants and swimming pool, the cottage makes a perfect base to explore the beautiful Isle of Islay and enjoy its scenery, wildlife and whisky.

Our holiday cottage has a large picture window in the sitting room offers views over the loch to Bruichladdich. Through the side window, you can see the Paps of Jura. Many species of birds, the occasional seal and, very rarely, otters can all be seen from a comfortable chair.

The holiday home has been carefully renovated and extended and now comprises of one double and one twin bedded room. The bathroom has been recently refurbished with a new suite and electric shower. There is a TV and a washer/dryer. All heating and lighting costs are included with the rent. All beds are furnished with duvets and all bed linen and towels are supplied but please take your own towels for swimming and the beach.

Outside of the self catering cottage is an enclosed garden that is surrounded by a stone wall and fence - the other side of which is the sea.

Between October and March, Islay is home to about 35,000 Barnacle Geese and the sight of large skeins returning to roost at the head of the loch each evening is spectacular. Seals and red deer are quite easy to find elsewhere on Islay.

The area is a haven for walkers and those who are looking for a peaceful break away.
