For the active there are outdoor activities including cycling, diving, fishing and kayaking. Oban is popular for its annual Highland Games. It attracts lots of visitors and competitors to the town. Oban also hosts other small and large festivals such as the West Highland Yachting Week and Winter Festival.
The town is surrounded by the Hebridean Islands which are famous in there own right. Kerrera can be seen from Oban Bay. The Isle of Mull is well known for whales, dolphins and sea eagles. Iona island has a lovely abbey and Staffa Island is one of the smallest of the islands.
