Tucked away in the crofting hamlet of Kilpheder (Cille Pheadair), our exquisite thatched cottage is merely a short stroll from the pristine, untouched white sands known as the ‘Machair’. As you meander along this stretch of coastline on the island's western flank, the sight of grey seals navigating the rocky inlets is a common delight.
Accommodation
The cottage features an open-plan layout that is elegantly furnished, allowing guests to tune into the radio or watch television whilst engaging in cooking, lounging, or dining. The decor boasts a harmonious blend of antique items, including a chess table, a spacious sofa, comfortable armchairs, a dining table with seating for four and a modern, fully equipped kitchen. This kitchen comes complete with an oven, a four-ring induction stove, a dishwasher and a refrigerator. French doors from the living area open out to the garden, enhancing the space with a bright and inviting vibe.The main bathroom features a Victorian-style suite with a standalone roll-top bathtub, a separate walk-in shower and a heated towel rail. To ensure utmost comfort, we provide soft, velvety towels, bath mats, a hairdryer and the option for plush, deep-pile bathrobes.
Bedroom One (En-suite) - The principal bedroom is adorned with a magnificent super king brass bed from ‘And-so-to-bed’, complemented by antique bedside tables and a wardrobe. The en-suite bathroom is equipped with a heated polished granite floor, a toilet, a washbasin, a walk-in shower and a heated towel rail.
Bedroom Two - This bedroom offers two sumptuous four-foot beds, complete with bedside tables, reading lamps and a large wardrobe. All beds are dressed in premium Egyptian cotton linens and dual-tog duvets.
A kitchen door opens directly to a heated outhouse, a versatile space featuring a washing machine, a separate tumble dryer and a sink. It serves as an ideal spot for removing muddy footwear, storing bulky outerwear and even provides a snug bed for your dog to rest and dry off after a dip in the loch adjacent to the cottage.
Visiting Kilpheder & Exploring The Western Isles
Kilpheder is on South Uist in the Outer Hebrides. It is the second largest island in the Outer Hebrides and is home to a spectacular coastline. On the island, you will find the oldest golf course in the Outer Hebrides at Askernish - with stunning views to be enjoyed while playing around on the course. Whilst staying on Uist there are plenty of attractions and places of interest to visit:Kildonan Museum.
