Visiting the Area

An hourly bus service passes the cottage, while nearby stations at Todmorden and Hebden Bridge offer links to Leeds, York, Manchester and Blackpool. Stepping outside, guests can immediately enjoy Hardcastle Crags, a National Trust woodland valley rich with streams, wildflowers and scenic walking routes of varying difficulty, all leading past Gibson Mill. The area is ideal for walking, with routes available straight from the cottage along the Pennine and Calderdale Ways that cross the hills behind the property, while gentler strolls can be enjoyed on the nearby canal towpath where you may even spot a kingfisher. Todmorden is an engaging market town with a rich industrial past and a forward-thinking approach showcased by its award-winning Incredible Edible project. Hebden Bridge offers appealing independent shops and a lively calendar of festivals, including an annual car rally. Within ten miles you can explore Haworth and Brontë country, ride the Worth Valley Steam Railway from Keighley, visit Halifax’s Piece Hall and Eureka museum, wander the National Trust’s Hardcastle Crags or see the striking Singing Ringing Tree in Burnley.
