Oakpond Cottages are home to our two award winning holiday farm cottages and Maggie the Showmans Waggon in North Shropshire. Both cottages have a wonderful waterside setting with lovely mature gardens and sits on 103 acres of Shropshire countryside. There is the option to hire our very relaxing hot tub which is situated in a covered room with atmospheric lighting and splendid views over the fields.
Oakwood is our other lovely cottage but this holiday cottage is located in the sleepy hamlet of Ightfield. This detached country bungalow has its own large garden and is in a very quiet spot with no passing traffic.
This home from home cottage is perfect for couples and smaller families and comfortably sleeps 2 - 4 people, there is the option to book Oaktree for additional family members but otherwise we only let out one farm cottage at a time. Oakponds delightful kitchen leads out onto the large patio and offers fine views of the gardens whilst dining. The lounge has comfortable seating whilst watching films from our large dvd library with the addition of a lovely flame effect woodburner which adds ambience to the room on those winter nights. There is lots information in the snug which is a perfect to plan your days out in the area. The gardens have mature fruit trees with one garden be dog friendly. We welcome one dog in this cottage.
This lovely award winning spacious cottage has its own balcony which overlooks the wildlife pond and fields and so perfect for breakfast in the mornings. The lounge opens out onto the patio and gardens with its reclining chairs and the cosyness of the crystal and smoky flame effect woodburner. There are wonderful views from every window in Oaktree. This can be booked with Oakpond for additional family members but otherwise we only let out one cottage at a time. Sorry but no dogs in this cottage.
A lovely detached country bungalow which is one mile from our farm cottage. Oakwood sleeps 4 people and we welcome up to 2 dogs. The lounge has comfortable seating and a smart tv with a cosy woodburner for those winter nights. The Olde Jack Inn dog friendly pub is a 20 minute walk which is down a hardstanding footpath and so perfect for a lovely stroll. There are walks from the door onto the Shropshire Way and Sandstone Trial. Oakwoods garden has 6 foot fencing and so safe and secure for dogs.
This beautiful horse draw 1920`s Showmans Waggon sits on her own very private spot overlooking the fields and comes with a separate wet room/wc and Maggies Butt Hut which is where guests can cook and relax whilst watching the world go by. There is the option of the hot tub with Maggie which is not shared.
Sleeps two adults only. Sorry but no dogs.
Our cottages are based on the Cheshire/Shropshire Border and is central for Staffordshire and Wales. Our local town is a Walkers Welcome Town with over 14 circular walks starting from the town onto the canals and the Sandstone walks into the hills. There are quite a few National Trust houses and gardens including non trust gardens such as The Dorothy Clive Gardens, Hodnet Hall and Wollerton gardens which are within 20 minutes away. Ironbridge, Raf Cosford and Chester Zoo are close by as well as a lovely canal side village and a Nature Reserve with woodland walks. Shrewsbury and Chester are within 30 minutes.
