Summary

Set within the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere, the Loch Ken Eco Bothies provide a well-equipped, beautifully furnished retreat designed for slowing down, unwinding and reconnecting with nature. With four individually styled Bothies to choose from, each offering its own unique character, you’ll find the perfect setting whether you’re planning a romantic escape for two or a relaxed family adventure.

Our purpose-built eco cabins operate entirely on renewable energy, with solar panels supplying the lighting, wood heating the hot tub and a gas system powering the stove and rain shower, while a log-burning stove keeps the interior warm and inviting. Each cabin also comes with its own wood-fired hot tub and a dedicated kayak, giving you everything you need for a luxurious and immersive wilderness escape.

Red Kite

Red Kite offers a well-equipped kitchen with everything from an under-counter fridge to a full oven, grill and six-burner hob, making it easy to prepare meals for everyone. With a double bedroom, a twin room and a double sofa bed, it comfortably sleeps six, providing plenty of space for families or groups. Designed as the perfect spot for a digital detox, it encourages you to switch off, slow down and enjoy uninterrupted time together.

Red Squirrel

The Red Squirrel features a fully fitted kitchen equipped with an under-counter fridge, six-burner gas hob, oven and grill, along with all the dishes, glasses and utensils needed for easy meal preparation. The bothy also offers hot running water, a rain shower and a log-burning stove for cosy heating. With a double bedroom, a single sofa bed in the open-plan lounge and the option of a small camp bed on request, it provides flexible accommodation for a comfortable stay.

The Otter

Set on its own private deck with a hot tub and a hidden lochan, this unique eco cabin offers complete seclusion and exceptional comfort. Designed with sustainability at its core, it runs on solar power, is heated by a wood-burning stove and features a rain shower along with a fully fitted kitchen equipped with a small fridge, gas cooker, grill and oven, plus all the utensils needed for a cosy, romantic meal. With its sedum roof and sheep’s wool insulation, the cabin blends seamlessly into its natural surroundings, making it the perfect spot for a digital detox and a peaceful escape from everyday life.

The Osprey

Choosing the Osprey for your eco-friendly getaway means enjoying luxury while treading lightly on the planet. As our newest eco bothy, it combines modern comfort with sustainable design, powered by a solar farm and locally sourced wood. The space includes rain showers, ample hot water and an innovative hanging woodburner to keep you warm year round, along with a fully fitted kitchen stocked with everything needed to cater for your stay. Three beautifully furnished en-suite double bedrooms occupy the ground floor, with an additional sofa bed upstairs, providing generous room for six to eight guests to relax in style.

Included

Your stay comes fully supplied with everything you need, from a generous stock of logs for both the wood-burner and hot tub to ensure you stay warm and relaxed throughout your visit. You’ll also have exclusive use of two double sit-on-top kayaks, two paddleboards and buoyancy aids, along with private access to the loch. To welcome you, a small selection of locally made artisan chocolate will be waiting on arrival, and plush robes are provided for those leisurely trips to and from the hot tub.
