Heath Farm Holiday Cottages are in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds near the villages of Swerford, Great Tew, Wiggington and South Newington. The cottages are 6 miles from Chipping Norton and near most of the Cotswold attractions.
Heath Farm provides 5 luxury stone self catering cottages that are situated on 70 acres of stunning woodland and meadows. Furniture and fittings have been built by Cotswolds craftsmen in English hardwoods, much of it from the farm’s own trees, and a local blacksmith was commissioned to create imaginative ironwork to enhance many of the doors, windows and the open fireplaces.
Unlimited firewood and spring water on tap. Complimentary cakes supplied by Cotswold baking based here on the farm. Complimentary flowers supplied from our gardens when possible. An idyllic setting, a perfect retreat to unwind and relax in. In the middle of nowhere yet on the edge of everything.
We have a games room which comes with:
Pool table.
Table tennis.
Darts.
Movie screen.
Board games.
Media library.
Children’s toys.
We also have a games lawn which has a trampoline, croquet pitch and games shed packed with equipment (giant Jenga, boules, kites, badminton, football and volleyball nets and balls plus kids archery set). We have an animal field with sheep, goats & geese. We're also part of the Walkers Welcome & Cyclists Welcome Scheme (we have bikes and a bike shed as part of it).
Each room has its own unique and inviting character. Beneath the dovecote, a weighty wooden door with wrought iron steel grille leads into the lobby. To the left is the bedroom with stone mullioned arched windows looking out onto the fields. A medieval-styled arched door and stone passageway leads past an unusual and spacious shower room down into the light and airy living area with a fully equipped kitchen. A comfy sofa bed allows you to relax in front of the open fire. Whitewashed walls and terracotta floor tiles give a Spanish feel to this room with windows looking out onto the courtyard, where the morning sun streams in.
The crowning glory, Walnut occupies the top floor of the converted barn, it also has a private garden with hot tub. Sunlight floods into the vast living area through an entire gable of elegant oak windows overlooking the courtyard. Competing for attention is the massive stone fireplace with its chimney breast towering up to the pitched ceiling of the sleeping gallery above. This is reached up a solid elm staircase landing in front of a magnificent stone arched window giving glorious views down to the fish pond and across the picturesque valley. The spacious bathroom has a separate shower. Exposed stone walls, oak beams, wood paneling and polished elm floor combine with the comfortable seating to create a warm and luxurious ambience.
Cobnut has commanding views of the courtyard and valley below. It has two large en-suite bedrooms upstairs which can be arranged as super king or twins and has an open plan living/dining room, kitchen with downstairs toilet & washroom. As with all the other cottages here, Cobnut has been finished to an unusually high standard, with attention to detail again to the fore. Fantastic views. A walk through Narnia inspired wardrobe in the verandah can give access to Chestnut cottage when booked together!
On-site spring water lake for trout fishing/feeding, boating and wild water swimming.
There are plenty of things to keep you occupied in the area including walking, cycling, horse riding, golfing, fishing and swimming in the nearby leisure centres. There are also lots of attractions to visit such as Broughton Castle, Buscot Park, Hook Norton Brewery and Bleinheim Palace.
