Overdale is in Burtersett, a picturesque, quiet village in the beautiful countryside of Upper Wensleydale, near Hawes. Situated at the end of a small farm track, it is an ideal location for walking, cycling and watching birds and wildlife, with walks straight from the front door. The area is perfect for those who want an active holiday or for others who just want to relax in a traditional dales cottage surrounded by idyllic scenery. The views from Overdale are spectacular.

Accommodation

The cottage sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms. Two have double beds and one has full size bunks. It has central heating and there is also a multi-fuel stove. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and quantities of crockery and cleaning materials. The freezer and washing machine are in an adjoining boot room. There is Wi-Fi connection and Smart TV. We have furnished the cottage with a mixture of family items and new furniture. It is comfortable and easy to run and provides a home from home for all our visitors.

The bedrooms have duvets and pillows, but to keep prices low, we ask guests to bring duvet covers, pillowcases and towels. Tea towels and kitchen towels are provided. The cottage is used regularly by the owners, who are keen walkers. There is a comprehensive range of local maps, and walking guides and a fiction library! Overdale also houses an assortment of games and toys which visitors are welcome to use.

Electricity and heating costs are included in the price as is the coal for the stove. The boot room provides excellent storage and is a good drying room for wet dogs! There is secure off-road parking within the cottage boundaries.

The enclosed garden to the front of Overdale includes a sun trap patio area and space for 2 cars. The garage houses the coal bunker and has space for bike storage. At the back of the house there is a grass area and a bench which is ideal for enjoying the views over Wensleydale.

Location

Overdale is brilliantly placed for exploring Upper Wensleydale and beyond. There is stunning scenery all around the cottage offering good walking on grassy paths from the front door. Hawes, just under a mile away, is a small market town which has pubs, cafes, independent shops, a post office, bike hire, a range of visitor attractions and an excellent fish and chip shop. The two grocery shops should meet all your needs. Livestock and general markets are held every Tuesday. Overdale is the ideal centre for exploring the Dales and for longer excursions to the Lake District and the North York Moors.
