Accommodation

The house retains its historic character, with low, sloped ceilings, uneven walls, steps between levels and steep, wide stairs, all adding to its unique appeal.

The large lounge is perfect for winter evenings, featuring a brick-built fireplace that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. The Lookout Room, accessed via a steep winding staircase, offers a private terrace with breathtaking views of the Norfolk coastline and salt marshes. The cream Shaker-style kitchen diner is well-equipped and sociable, with a central dining table, while a more formal dining room provides a spacious and elegant setting for larger meals.

The cottage offers two spacious double bedrooms, one overlooking the garden and the other Jolly Sailor Yard, each with ample wardrobe space, decorative fireplaces, TVs and DVD players. The king-size bed in one room can be converted into twin beds for flexibility. Two single bedrooms also enjoy garden views, with one featuring an original brick and wood Tudor fireplace. The first-floor family bathroom includes a luxurious corner bath, shower attachment and heated towel rails, while the ground-floor bathroom features an extra-large bath, shower cubicle and a separate toilet.

Outside, the south-facing garden offers a peaceful place to sit and private parking is available for up to three cars.

Visiting the Area

Set on the North Norfolk Coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the cottage is just steps from the Norfolk Coast Path and within easy reach of National Nature Reserves, Norfolk Wildlife Trust sites and an RSPB reserve. Located in the East End of Wells-next-the-Sea, Jolly Sailor Cottage is only moments from the waterfront, offering stunning, ever-changing views from the Lookout or East Quay. Relax on the slipway, watching oystercatchers, curlews and egrets, or marvel at the geese flying overhead in winter. Despite its peaceful setting, the cottage is just a short walk from the bustling quay, quirky shops and access to the beach via path or bus.
