Auld Orwell Cottage is a self catering cottage in Waternish, a quiet corner on the Isle of Skye. The cottage overlooks the traditional village of Stein, with other dramatic views across the loch and to the Western Isles beyond. If you are lucky there are dramatic sunsets or amazing Dark Skies at which to gaze in awe.

The cottage is spacious and ideal for a family or group. There is a living room and through dining area with a traditional open fire at one end.

The kitchen has been recently renovated and offers all you would need for an enjoyable break, including a washer/dryer and a dishwasher.

The property has three bedrooms. Downstairs there is a bedroom which can be either a super king or a twin. It has a large wet room next door. There are features in the bathroom which make it relatively accessible as well as tiling throughout the ground floor for wheelchair access. Up the spiral staircase there are 1 - king sized double and 1 twin, with a shared bathroom, with bath and separate shower. All bedding and towels are provided.

The garden offers a long grassy area for children and a picnic table, with the magnificent views and for those long summer nights.

We accept dogs. The garden area is fairly secure depending on how good your pet is at escaping!

The Isle of Skye is a world renowned visitor destination with amazing landscapes of jagged mountains, cliffs and other walking terrain. The seas around the island offer stunning views, fantastic wildlife and boat trips both near and far. There are the main visitor attractors of Fairy Pools or the Quirrang. Or castles and distilleries and galleries and shops. But Skye has so much more to offer for the discerning visitor.

Waternish is a bit of a hidden gem with walking, boat trips, galleries, a working tannery, a Michelin starred restaurant and the oldest Inn on Skye. Skye has some of the “darkest” skies in the country and in particular here on Waternish. We have no street lighting, which means that if you have clear night skies, switch off any outside lights, give your eyes time to get used to it and then wow! And if you are lucky maybe even an Aurora Borealis.
