Balnacraig is a luxurious holiday home, ideal for those seeking self-catering accommodation near Inverness. Situated in a prime location on Ord Hill, just 10 minutes north of Inverness, the house comfortably accommodates up to 10 guests.
Its spacious, open-plan living area seamlessly combines the sitting room, dining room and kitchen, with large bay windows offering views across the decked area and direct access to the outdoors. The sitting room features comfortable sofas, an armchair and a Smart TV, while the well-equipped kitchen includes an electric double oven, grill and hob, microwave, American fridge/freezer, dishwasher and all essential cooking equipment. The dining area comfortably seats ten, perfect for gatherings with family or friends.
The ground floor also includes a twin bedroom with a zip-and-link bed that can be converted into a super king upon request, a TV with a DVD player and direct access to a shared bathroom with a bath, shower, WC, and heated towel rail. A sunroom overlooks the garden and a small utility room is equipped with a washing machine and tumble dryer. There’s also a cloakroom with a WC and washbasin.
Upstairs, the master bedroom features a king-size bed, TV with DVD player and an en-suite bathroom with a large walk-in shower. Another king-size bedroom also includes a TV with DVD player. There are two twin bedrooms with zip-and-link beds that can be converted to super king-size if requested. One has an en-suite shower room, while the other shares its en-suite between the bedroom and the hall. Each bathroom is fitted with a shower, WC, washbasin and heated towel rail.
Additional facilities include Wi-Fi access, IT charging stations in each bedroom, two hairdryers, an ironing station, a docking station and a travel cot with a high chair (please note cot bedding is not provided).
Outside, a large decked terrace with a hot tub and garden furniture offers stunning views, creating a perfect spot to unwind. There’s off-road parking for three cars, an outdoor drying area and direct access to walking trails through a private wooded area behind the garden. Balnacraig’s hot tub offers a truly relaxing experience, combining the therapeutic benefits of the spa with breathtaking views.
Its location provides easy access to the A9, making it an excellent base for exploring the North of Scotland, including the NC500 route, often referred to as Scotland’s answer to Route 66. Guests can venture west to the Isle of Skye, Applecross, Gairloch and Ullapool, or head north to Tain, Dornoch, Golspie, John o’Groats and the Orkney Isles. To the south, whisky lovers can explore Speyside’s famous distilleries and the Cairngorms. Loch Ness, with its stunning scenery and legendary Nessie tales, is also within reach.
Nature enthusiasts will enjoy dolphin watching in the Moray Firth, with regular boat trips available, as well as sightings of red kites and, occasionally, red squirrels. The surrounding area is rich in birdsong, adding to the serene atmosphere. For outdoor activities, guests can explore the scenic walking trails of Ord Hill Forestry, accessible directly from the property’s private woodland.
