Rookyard Cottage is an eco-friendly, single storey self catering holiday cottage situated in Holton, Halesworth, Suffolk. It has a timber frame with recycled newspaper insulation, rainwater harvesting and solar heated water. Guests may use the owners’ private indoor heated swimming pool.

Accommodation

The holiday cottage has two bedrooms, a double and a twin, each with an en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath. One bathroom is equipped for use by disabled guests.The sitting/dining room has a vaulted timber ceiling and a modern well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. A log burning stove is backed up by full oil-fired central heating. There is a TV with Freesat and a DVD player, together with a radio/CD player. This cottage is furnished and decorated to a high standard in a modern style. There is easy level access for wheelchair users.

The self catering cottage is set in the grounds of Valley Farm. Guests have a south facing terrace with table, chairs and a barbecue and there is an acre field suitable for ball games, kite flying and fun, far away from the road. A country footpath leads across the fields to the small market town of Halesworth. The owners’ private indoor heated swimming pool is available to guests by individual arrangement at a small extra charge. There is parking for two cars.

The 28ft x 14ft swimming pool is to be found in a purpose built, Scandinavian style timber hall. It comes with a changing room, shower and WC facilities. Both pool and hall are heated by a sophisticated solar powered system, backed up by oil, to a constant 29C . This makes swimming a most enjoyable experience throughout the year. The pool overlooks the garden and the paddock and includes a pleasant sitting area where you can relax after a swim. We are happy to share the pool with our guests by individual arrangement.

Visiting Holton & Exploring Suffolk

Only 1 mile away is the fabulous market town of Halesworth, home to local shops, pubs and restaurants. You can visit also the scenic coastal town of Southwold, just a short drive away. The RSPB sanctuary at Minsmere is a haven for bird lovers and is home to an amazing range of birds. You can also visit the interesting towns of Snape Maltings and Aldeburgh, both easily accessible by car. Further attractions to visit include:
