21 Shoregate is a 300-year-old fisherman’s cottage, just a stone’s throw from Crail harbour in the heart of this historic village. Tucked at the end of a row of 17th and 18th century houses on the lane leading down to the harbour, the cottage is cosy yet full of charm. When the seas are wild, there’s nothing better than curling up by the wood-burning stove with a hot chocolate or something stronger while watching the ever changing Scottish weather through the French doors that open onto the garden and the sea beyond the cliff.
The living room features a digital TV with DVD player, a CD player with Bluetooth, and a Bose Sound Dock for iPods or iPhones. Broadband Wi-Fi is provided, along with a small library of CDs, DVDs and books. The living area flows into the dining space and kitchen, which is well equipped with a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, Nespresso machine, cafetières and a milk frother. The kitchen is stocked for holiday baking and there is a BBQ in the garden for outdoor dining.
Upstairs, there are two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a super-king bed and four windows, two of which offer sea views, while the second bedroom has two twin beds overlooking the picturesque stepped gables of Castle Terrace. The bathroom features a P-shaped bath with a Grohe Rainshower system, perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the coast.
The secluded garden behind the cottage includes a terrace perched above the rooftops, offering stunning views across the Firth of Forth to the Isle of May, ideal for sea and star gazing. Parking is free on the roadside just a few yards from the cottage and the village shops and Golf Hotel are only a five-minute walk away.
Crail is part of Fife’s East Neuk, one of Scotland’s best-kept secrets, renowned for its natural beauty, coastal charm and golf holidays.
