Summary

Swarthmoor Hall offers a serene setting for reflection and spiritual exploration. It provides a unique opportunity to connect with Quaker history and values amidst the peaceful Cumbrian countryside.

We have five charming self-catering cottages that can accommodate groups of up to eight people, including one fully accessible cottage. Additionally, one wing of the Old Hall has been converted into five guest rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom.

Hampsfell - Sleeps 4

This is a wheelchair-accessible cottage with stunning views across our gardens to the Cumbrian countryside. It features a double room, a twin room and a shared wet room, all on the ground floor. The open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room is equipped with a dishwasher, washer/dryer, oven, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee machine, kettle and toaster. Guests can enjoy a 32″ Smart TV, free Wi-Fi and a Bluetooth soundbar. The cottage also boasts a private garden area, parking right outside the door and accommodates up to two pets.

Wansfell- Sleeps 6

This cottage offers wonderful views across our gardens and grounds to the hills beyond. It features 2 double rooms and 2 single rooms, with 3 en-suite bathrooms and 1 private bathroom, spread across the ground and first floors. The kitchen, dining, and sitting room open directly onto the garden. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave, kettle, coffee machine and toaster. Guests can enjoy a 32″ Smart TV, free Wi-Fi and a Bluetooth soundbar. The cottage also has a private garden area, with parking available in the main car park. Please note, no pets are allowed.

Old Hall - Sleeps 8

Stay in our 17th-century hall, featuring original mullioned windows and views of the gardens. The hall includes 1 double room, 2 twin rooms, 1 triple room with a king bed and 1 single room, accommodating up to 8 guests. Each room has an en-suite bathroom and is situated on the 1st and 2nd floors. The kitchen and sitting room with an open fire provide a cosy atmosphere. The kitchen is equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge/freezer, coffee machine, kettle and toaster. Enjoy modern amenities like a 32″ Smart TV, free Wi-Fi, and a Bluetooth soundbar. Parking is available in the main car park. Please note, no pets are allowed.

Garden Suite - Sleeps 2

Our newest suite, located on the ground floor of the Old Hall, provides a comfortable stay in an atmospheric setting. It features a double room with an en-suite shower room, a bed/sitting room, kitchen and dining room. The suite offers beautiful views of the gardens and hills from the private patio. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, air fryer, microwave, hob, kettle and toaster. Enjoy a 32″ Smart TV and free Wi-Fi. Parking is available in the main car park. Please note, no pets are allowed.

Firbank Fell - Sleeps 2

This cottage offers wonderful views across our gardens and grounds to the hills beyond. It features 1 bedroom with either twin or king beds and an en-suite wet room, all on the ground floor. The bed/sitting room and kitchen/dining room provide comfortable living spaces. The kitchen is equipped with an air fryer, hob, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. Enjoy a 32″ Smart TV and free Wi-Fi. Parking is available in the main car park. Please note, no pets are allowed.

Visiting The Area

Swarthmoor Hall is open again to the public on Wednesday to Friday; and visitors staying in our cottages can go round free of charge on those days to learn about the history of the Hall and the Quakers. Apart from the Hall itself to discover, there is lots to see and do in the area, including:
