We are the perfect place to escape from the pressures of modern life: whether it’s exploring nature trails or strolling through gorgeous meadows, we offer a true rural paradise for city dwellers. You might even see one of our friendly free goats or chickens roaming around. Our family friendly farm is also home to 12 Pygmy goats led by ‘Elvis’, their affable ram. Children can enjoy the unique experience of daily feeding or collect eggs from our charming rainbow flock of chickens.Our idyllic cottage is perfect for sinking into simple living. Whether you choose to relax in front of the cosy wood-burner in the chilly winter evenings or unwind in the pretty rose covered terrace on a summer afternoon, Hogchester Cottage is a haven in all seasons. The spacious kitchen has a traditional AGA and a dining area with views across the fields to the sea. Our cheeky guinea fowl often pop in at the window to say hello! The lounge comes with a log burner, TV and DVD player. There is a large range of boardgames, books and DVDs to keep you occupied. A downstairs WC is also available.
Upstairs there is a king room and a twin room with fantastic views down to the sea. There is also an eco friendly wooden cot if you are travelling with a baby.
There is 75 acres of land to enjoy. Across from the cottage there is a peaceful garden area with table and chairs. Its surrounded by rambling roses and has beautiful views to the sea.
Children can enjoy the tyre swing in the old stables. Extra activities include stream navigation and family campfire night or a stargazer experience. We can happily offer handy tips for exploring the land, seeing new wildlife and getting the best picnic spots available.
Visiting Charmouth & Exploring Dorset
Set in a tranquil location of orchards and fields Hogchester Cottage is also incredibly accessible - its long driveway linked directly to the A35. It's a five minute drive to the pretty Charmouth beaches and ten minutes to the centre of the historic harbour town of Lyme Regis with its famous Cobb and fossil-packed beach and cliffs.Charmouth is an unspoilt traditional village with a wonderful family beach. Charmouth beach is a mixture of sand and pebbles, fossils, clean sea and safe swimming. The beach is divided into two by the mouth of the River Char which is often dammed by the beach forming a lagoon suitable for boating or watching the many ducks and swans. The Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre has lots of displays that can help you discover how to find your very own fossils to take home. They also run guided fossil walks throughout the year. The beach is a UNESCO world heritage site.
