Sleeps 2-4
£500 - £750

Summary

Intake Cottage & Swallows Byre offers self catering holiday accommodation located just 1 mile west of Low Row, which is close to Richmond in North Yorkshire. The cottages have the advantage of being situated in a unique spot; both close to the tranquillity of the River Swale and not too far from the local amenities. There are lush green valleys, patchwork fields and a fresh water river, making it an ideal location for walking, cycling, sightseeing, trout fishing, painting or just plain relaxing.

Intake Cottage

This delightful stone built cottage comes with great character. It has a beamed ceiling, original flagged stone floors and an 18th Century, stone and cast iron open fire in the sitting/dining room. It is sympathetically furnished throughout with antique furniture and tasteful, comfortable soft furnishings. A television, DVD player, CD player and radio can be found in the sitting room.

The cottage has a fitted kitchen with Belfast sink, electric double oven and hob, microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher. Whilst offering modern amenities, it still retains its character with original stone shelves and flooring.

Four people can be accommodated in the two upstairs bedrooms. The master bedroom is a double room and the second room is approached through the main bedroom and has a 3 foot single bed. The bathroom, with a bath with shower above, shaver point and heated towel rail and wall heater, is just off the main bedroom.

At the front of the cottage is a private raised garden. It overlooks the River Swale and is south facing. The patio terrace with garden furniture is ideal for barbeques and picnics.

Swallows Byre

This is a cosy cottage for 2 and is situated over the garden wall of Intake Cottage. It enjoys the same south facing views and is a lovely place to stay for those who want to rest and recuperate.

To ensure you can make the most of these views at any time of day, we have used the first floor as the main living space. This living/dining room has a wood burner and doors leading out to a roof terrace. As well as quality soft furnishings, you will also find a TV, Blu-Ray DVD player, CD player and free Wi-Fi internet access.

The bedroom is on the ground floor and has an antique double bed. At the end of a long day you can soak in the roll top bath in the bathroom. Underfloor heating can be found in the bathroom and leading through to the kitchenette. Here you will find a Belfast sink, washing machine, electric cooker, small fridge freezer, toaster and microwave. Outside is a garden & summer house as well as a BBQ area for those days you want to dine outside.

Visiting Low Row & Exploring North Yorkshire

There are many local walks and mountain bike routes starting from Low Row, several of which are depicted in guidebooks at the cottage. Just over the "Buttertubs Pass" into Wensleydale you will find the market town of Hawes, where the famous Wensleydale Cheese is made.

In the other direction you will find the Georgian market town of Richmond and Barnard Castle. Also close by is Bowes Museum which is an international venue for art exhibitions and has numerous different ones throughout the year. There are many local pubs and restaurants serving a variety of excellent Yorkshire specialities along with more contemporary foods.
