Summary

Field Beck is a house full of character on the edge of the ancient village of Cartmel. It is Listed Grade II and enjoys glorious views of the medieval Priory and the local fells. Situated in great walking, eating and drinking country, it is ideally placed for visiting The Lakes.

Accommodation

Set in a quiet lane on the edge of this delightful village, Field Beck overlooks the medieval Priory of Cartmel and is the sort of Georgian house that Jane Austen might have lived in. It is Grade II Listed and all its light and airy rooms have lovely views and catch the sun.

The house has been lovingly conserved and furnished to keep its historic character and charm. If you like quirky old houses, you will love Field Beck.

On the ground floor is: a sitting room, with wood-stove, a dining room, a scullery/boot room and a kitchen/breakfast room which features original 1950s stainless steel units.

On the first floor are 3 bedrooms: a twin and 2 doubles (1 with a washbasin), and a bathroom. Above is a large attic with an extra TV.

Beneath the house are the original cellars, with stone flagged floors, an extra loo and a games room with snooker and football tables.

Field Beck is surrounded by a large and beautiful walled garden with a pond and stream. The patio is a real sun trap – perfect for barbeques.

The house will accommodate 6 people very comfortably. We offer discounts for smaller groups. A well behaved dog is welcome.

It has 4 excellent pubs which all do good food and there are several exceptional restaurants nearby, notably L’Enclume which has been voted Britain’s best restaurant four times. The village has a cheesemonger, an artisan baker, a micro brewery, a wine merchant, a delicatessen and a chocolatier! There is a monthly food fair and it is also home to the world famous Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Set in a lovely valley and, being off the busy tourist routes, Cartmel is ideally placed for visiting the entire Lake District, although there is fabulous walking, eating and drinking right on the doorstep.
