Built of pine logs in traditional ‘Scandinavian’ style, the single-storey cottage provides a clean, warm and inviting atmosphere for family and friends alike. At the heart of the Highlands and close to the village of Kincraig, it is an ideal base from which to enjoy all the activities and attractions of the Cairngorms National Park.
About Balbeag Cottage
The cottage is comfortably furnished and exceptionally well equipped. There are large fitted wardrobes in all 4 bedrooms which consist of (1) a king-size bed, (2) twin beds (convertible to a 5 ft. double bed), (3) 2 single beds and (4) a single bed and a full-sized cabin bed. There is a bathroom with WC, a shower room with WC, a spacious living/dining room with a wood-burning stove, an open plan kitchen and a good-sized utility room. Within the garden are 2 dog kennels, each with a small run, ample car parking space, a large picnic table with bench seating and a barbecue.Equipment Includes an electric cooker, microwave oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, hair dryer, radio/CD player/iPod dock, satellite TV, DVD player and telephone. There is electric heating throughout.
For the evenings, there are books, games and jigsaw puzzles to enjoy in front of the wood-burning stove.
Local Area
Loch Insh Watersports Centre is less than a mile away, where you can try paddle-boarding, canoeing, kayaking, sailing and windsurfing. Additionally, within the local area, you will find everything from quad biking to horse riding, fishing to gliding, a zip wire park, skiing, clay pigeon shooting and a number of golf courses.Being in the Cairngorms National Park you are guaranteed walking and cycling in spectacular scenery, from short easy trails to strenuous hill and mountain climbs. The Speyside Way trail is close to Balbeag.
Other local attractions include the Kincraig Wild Life Park, the Folk Museum at Newtonmore, Landmark Theme Park at Carrbridge and the steam train at Aviemore. Within Kincraig, there is a bar and cafe/restaurant overlooking the water at the Loch Insh Watersports Centre, a popular cafe at the old Kincraig Post Office and a friendly locals bar with weekly traditional music at the Suie.
Location: 8 miles equidistant from Aviemore and Kingussie (British Rail stations at both). Just over 2 miles from the A9 road and approx. 45 minutes from Inverness airport.
