Summary

Westerclose House Cottages are situated in the heart of Exmoor National Park, on the border of North Devon above the unspoilt village of Withypool with wonderful far-reaching views over the River Barle Valley and surrounding moorland. Westerclose is set in its own grounds in a stunningly beautiful and tranquil location, yet is within a short walking distance (300 yards) of the excellent Royal Oak pub, well-stocked village shop and historic St Andrew's church.

We have four self catering cottages and an apartment in a courtyard setting (sleep 1 – 6 people), all comfortably furnished with everything you need for a well-deserved and relaxing break. The cottages each have a private garden, easy parking and a log burner for those chillier evenings. The apartment is within Westerclose House, with its private entrance and enjoying panoramic views. Children, well behaved dogs and other small pets are all welcome!

For those who want to bring their own horses, we have 3 large stables and turnout paddocks close to the cottages available on a DIY livery basis. There is superb hacking available directly from our yard.

Bantam Cottage - Sleeps 5

Sitting room with wood burner, TV & DVD and French windows onto veranda and garden. Kitchen with electric cooker, micro­wave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. Single bedroom (4′ 6″ bed). Bathroom with WC, bath and shower over bath. One double bedroom (King size bed) and one twin bedroom. Bathroom with bath and WC.

Nethergate Cottage - Sleeps 3

A comfortable cottage sleeping up to 3 people with lovely views and its own enclosed garden. All accommodation is at ground floor level. One double bedroom and one single bedroom (off the sitting room). Good sized kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, fridge and washing machine. Dining area adjacent to the kitchen. Sitting room with TV & DVD, wood burner and patio doors leading out to the enclosed garden. Bathroom with bath, WC and shower over bath. Electric panel heaters in each room. Car parking outside the front of the cottage.

Stable Cottage - Sleeps 2

All accommodation is at ground floor level. One double bedroom and en-suite bathroom with bath, WC, & shower over bath. Kitchen with electric cooker, fridge, microwave & washing machine. Sitting/dining room with TV & DVD, wood burner and door to patio and enclosed garden. Electric panel heaters in each room. Parking outside the front of the cottage.

Pennycombe Cottage - Sleeps 6

Large sitting room with wood burner, TV & DVD. Large kitchen/dining room with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and French windows onto patio and garden. Shower room with separate WC. One double bedroom, one twin bedroom and one bunk-bedroom (3ft wide pine bunks with adult mattresses). Bathroom with bath and WC. Large enclosed garden with patio and lovely views of the Barle and Pennycombe valleys. Parking outside the front of the cottage.

Heather View - Sleeps 2

This is a comfortable and spacious self-contained apartment at the top of Westerclose House with its own private external access (2 stair flights). It commands superb views across the moor, the village and down the Barle valley. One double bedroom and en-suite bathroom with bath and WC. Spacious sitting room with dining area, TV & DVD. Kitchen with electric cooker, fridge and microwave. Oil fired central heating throughout with supplementary electric log-effect fire in the sitting room.

There is plenty to see and do in the area including fabulous walking and riding directly from your door and a host of other activities to enjoy, Westerclose is an ideal base for exploring Exmoor and the spectacular North Devon coast.
