Buidhe Island (pronounced "Buie") is a family-run B&B and self-catering retreat in the heart of Argyll. Situated on the edge of the breathtaking Loch Melfort, it offers a relaxed waterside escape, perfect for exploring Argyll by land or sea. Located in the picturesque holiday village of Craobh Haven, the area is rich in wildlife and natural beauty, with excellent local facilities. We offer two self-catering properties, The Pier House, which sleeps 10 and Kelpie Chalet, which accommodates 4. Both provide stunning sea views, making them an ideal base for a peaceful and scenic getaway.
The Pier House comfortably accommodates up to nine guests across four bedrooms, including two family rooms with king-size beds and a single child’s bed, both with en-suite bathrooms, a king bedroom with its own en-suite and a twin room with a bathroom next door. The property features an outdoor seating area with a firepit, a wood-burning stove and essential amenities such as Wi-Fi, a large washing machine and tumble dryer, two fridge freezers and a commercial dishwasher. A cot and highchair are available for families, while a ground-floor bedroom with a sofa bed, along with disabled parking and toilet facilities, ensures accessibility for all guests.
Kelpie is a cosy two-bedroom chalet that sleeps up to four guests, featuring one room with a king-size bed and another with bunk beds. The chalet includes a well-equipped outdoor seating area with a firepit, along with essential amenities such as a washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge freezer and Wi-Fi. A cot and highchair are also available, making it a convenient choice for families.
Craobh Haven offers plenty to see and do, from bird and wildlife watching, with seals and otters frequently visiting the bay, to wild swimming for those who enjoy a refreshing dip in the sea. Guests can hire a paddleboard or sit-on-top kayak to explore the bay or bring their own boat to launch and sail from the site (charges apply). The area also boasts a variety of walking trails, ranging from easy strolls to more challenging hikes, all offering stunning views of Argyll’s natural beauty.
