Summary

Since 1978, Monnow Valley Studio in Rockfield has earned a reputation as one of the world's most prestigious recording studios. Iconic artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Robert Plant, Simple Minds, Nigel Kennedy, Oasis and Sir Tom Jones have recorded here. The studio’s renowned cartwheel doors even featured on the cover of Oasis' debut single "Supersonic," a track that is widely credited with launching Britpop in the 1990s.

Now available as a Big House Holiday Let, this legendary rock 'n' roll retreat invites you and your loved ones to stay in the same rooms as these music legends. You can dine and party in the expansive, soundproof Studio Room, which is fully equipped with disco lighting and a built-in speaker system ready for your own music. The house is filled with memorabilia and photos of the artists who have recorded there over the years.

Refurbished in 2020, the studio offers a brand new kitchen with all the amenities you need for entertaining, 11 bedrooms, and 10 bathrooms (7 en-suite), accommodating up to 24 guests. Two connected en-suite bedrooms on the ground floor, with separate access, are perfect for those with limited mobility.

The main lounge, featuring an adjoining snug, includes a large TV with Sky, Netflix, Amazon Prime and a log burner. Fibre broadband is available throughout the property. The former studio control room, which once housed John Lennon's mixing desk, is now the Games and Cinema Room, where you can enjoy pool, darts, table tennis, computer games or movies.

The dining room, located at the glass end of the studio, features floor-to-ceiling glass walls, a vaulted ceiling, and hand-carved stone pillars, offering your party 270-degree views of the River Monnow and the surrounding countryside while dining.

Outside, a large patio area with sofas, tables and a Jacuzzi hot tub awaits you. The property is bordered by the River Monnow on one side and surrounded by mature gardens and trees on the other three sides, providing complete privacy. There is ample parking for 16 cars.

Situated 300 metres down a private lane, the house offers peace and tranquillity for a relaxing break. Numerous public footpaths are right on the doorstep, perfect for hiking. The property is located just outside the former perimeter of the ancestral home of Charles Rolls (founder of Rolls Royce), now the Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club, a short drive away.

Just 2.5 miles from the picturesque market town of Monmouth, the studio is within the delivery area for several supermarkets and takeaway services.

The owners live nearby and are available for any queries during your stay. Studio owner Jo, who has 30 years of experience in the music industry, can entertain your party with stories of her time working with Richard Branson, Simon Cowell, touring with Nirvana, sharing a house with Peter Andre and living with artists at the studio for two decades.
