Hide At St Donats offers luxurious self catering accommodation, nestled in idyllic countryside. We are based in the charming village of St Donats at Tresilian Wood, a delightful arboretum boasting seven and a half acres of wild countryside.

You can choose from 3 cosy Cabans, a Bugail (shepherds) Hut and Walden Lodge, set between bushes, trees and wildflowers and boasting spectacular views of the wild seas. The bustling Welsh capital is just 25 miles away and further afield you can visit an array of brilliant attractions in Glamorgan. We truly are perfect for the ultimate retreat in a glorious rural setting.

Walden Lodge:

This outstanding lodge offers a beautiful blend of influences, bringing a slice of America to the scenic Welsh coastline. From magnificent art and craftwork whose subjects include Welsh migration, religion and poetry, to the spirit of the American transcendental movement and Thoreau’s renowned book ‘Walden’, the lodge enjoys tranquil living spaces which seamlessly combine with the natural environment.

The lodge sleeps 4 in 2 double rooms, with an extra single bunk also available. A studio kitchen is brimming with natural light and includes a range of appliances for home-cooking including a fridge/freezer, fan oven and induction hob, cookware and serving equipment. A toasty wood burner is perfect for those chilly days and a large bathroom has a walk-in shower. Outside there is a balcony, ideal for a morning coffee while savouring the amazing views which reach as far as the Quantock Hills across the channel.

The Bugail Hut:

Our charming shepherds hut is tucked away in a peaceful arboretum and set below a delightful tulip tree. This unique hut offers large windows to take advantage of the stunning scenery which surrounds it. You can enjoy a restful night’s sleep in the comfy bed after a memorable day being immersed in nature. The shepherds hut even has a little kitchen annex and a quaint bathroom. A striking wood burner is great for the winter months and a terrace comes with a table and chairs, offering a lovely place for a glass of wine whilst enjoying the spectacular meadow views.

Cabans:

We have 3 fabulous wooden Cabans to stay in, all expertly handmade, based in a glorious countryside setting. All the cabans offer lots of space to unwind in and a private terrace for al fresco dining whilst admiring the scenic landscape. The cabans include a separate private bathroom, kitchenette and a roaring wood-burning stove. After a busy day sightseeing, enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep on the comfy double bed which has crisp cotton sheets, an electric blanket, duvet and woollen blankets.

We also have The Pavilion, a wonderful space which is great for corporate meetings, training courses, creative workshops, dinners, retreats and special celebrations. The space can cater for up to 26 guests for single-day events and can host multi-day events for up to 12 guests staying with us.

You can truly indulge and treat yourself to one of our fantastic treatments, delivered by our trained therapists. From massages to private classes, we have something for everyone.

Visiting St Donats & Exploring Glamorgan

We are in the ideal location for discovering all that the area has to offer. We are adjacent to Atlantic College and St. Donats Castle, whilst lots of picturesque walking and cycle routes are great for nature lovers. You can enjoy a refreshing ale at The Old Swan Inn which is just 1.5 miles from us. On summer’s day, enjoy a drink or two in the sunny beer garden. Savour some delicious food at The Carne Arms, an award-winning pub and restaurant which is just 5 miles from us. You can visit the thriving city of Cardiff, home to majestic churches, imposing castles and ancient myths. Excellent attractions to visit include:
