Guardhouse Self Catering offers self catering accommodation at the south end of Stromness. We are the ideal base for exploring Orkney.

Accommodation

Our charming cottage is tastefully furnished and comes with a range home comforts to suit all your needs. The cottage sleeps 6, making it great for a family or group, but also cosy enough for a couple as there is a double bedroom and shower room on the ground floor.

On the ground floor, there is a well-equipped kitchen with a hob, eye-level oven, fridge, freezer, microwave and dishwasher. The utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer. Unwind in the cosy sitting/dining room which has a TV, DVD player and comfortable seating. The ground floor also houses a double room and shower room.

The first floor has a twin and double room. An additional Z bed is available on request. A family bathroom has a shower over the bath.

Outside there is a spacious garden with a drying green and a patio area with seating. This is the perfect spot for al fresco dining whilst the sun is shining. A shed is great for storing bikes, fishing equipment and golf clubs.

Visiting Stromness & Exploring Orkney

Stunning walks and wonderful views are right on our doorstep. We are also just a stone’s throw from the golf course and the area has an abundance of local wildlife. A ten-minute stroll takes you to the town centre where there is a local butcher, baker, craft shops, bars, restaurants and cafes. Attractions to visit include:

Stromness Museum.
Ring of Brodgar.
Standing Stones of Stenness.
Maes Howe.
Skara Brae Prehistoric Village.
Graemsay.
Ness Battery.
