Auld Mission Cottage offers 4-star self-catering accommodation situated on Waternish, one of the northern areas of the beautiful Isle of Skye. Our cottage boasts spectacular views of Loch Bay and over the Minch to the Outer Hebrides. Waternish is possibly a bit of a hidden area of Skye, but none the less is majestic and a perfect place to see the rest of the island.

About Auld Mission Cottage

Recently renovated but with much of its original stonework maintained, the Auld Mission Cottage has been modernised to a high standard and comfortably furnished. Whilst there is electric heating throughout, the sitting room also has a warming multi-fuel stove. Apart from some stone steps from the parking area, the accommodation is all on one level and comprises of:-

One double and one twin bedroom.
Bathroom with large electric shower cubicle.
Open plan kitchen and lounge/diner.
A seating area at the front for the views and sunsets.

Visiting Waternish & Exploring the Isle of Skye

The Waternish peninsula is one of the four Norse divisions of Skye on the North West side of the island. Auld Mission Cottage is situated less than a mile from the picturesque old fishing village of Stein, which has Skye’s only Michelin starred restaurant, Loch Bay Restaurant (seafood), and the oldest Inn on Skye (Stein Inn). Around and about there are craft shops and a tannery.

There are food shops in Dunvegan about 7 miles away and Portree, the main town, is about 24 miles.
Skye is renowned for its mountain walking, but here on Waternish, we have a few less arduous routes, as well as boat trips near at hand, especially to St Kilda.
