The Area

Shadoxhurst is a lovely village 5 miles south of Ashford towards the cinque port market town of Tenterden. It has a wonderful pub, the King's Head, within walking distance of the Barn, which is both a pub and a restaurant - twice winning Shepherd Neame food pub of the year. The towns of Canterbury, Ashford, Wye, Rye and Tenterden are within easy reach by car. The conservation area of Shadoxhurst is a rural community with horse riding, walking and cycling in some of Kent's most beautiful countryside including the amazing ancient woodlands right outside the barn.

Known as the Garden of England, Kent is famous for growing hops and apples, though there aren't many hops anymore! Attractions in Kent include the beautiful castle of Leeds, Hever and Dover. Some fantastic beeches are accessed along the coast between Rye and Hythe. The quaint Cinque Port towns provide an enjoyable day out by the sea and the historic Dock yards at Chatham are great for old and young alike. The world famous cathedral at Canterbury and punting on the river Stour are not to be missed.
