Visiting Applecross & Exploring Wester Ross

Applecross is a remote peninsula located on the west coast of Wester Ross, directly opposite Raasay, Rona and Skye. Picturesque villages and remote crofting townships are scattered along the spectacular coastline.

Everywhere on the Peninsula, the slower pace of life of the Western Highlands is evident and friendly locals are always willing to give advice and assistance to visitors.

Excellent walking, for all levels of fitness, is available on the many waymarked woodland and coastal walks.

However, for those wishing more than the tranquillity of this beautiful and remote area, the Peninsula offers a wide variety of activities which include ridge walking in the Torridon mountains, climbing, cycling, sailing, fishing, kayaking and diving. The offshore waters visited by the Gulf Stream make these latter activities even more appealing.

Wildlife abounds and includes red deer, seals, a huge variety of sea-birds and occasionally sea eagles and golden eagles.
