About Elspinhope

The very environmentally friendly cottage is on our Cossarshill Farm which is a 1,400 acre hill sheep farm next to the Southern Upland Way (long distance walk). Guests have freedom of access to our land with many lovely walks on the hills & by the river. We are keen conservationists and are constantly involved in projects around the farm - dry stane dyking, planting native woodland and many others. Cossarshill is in an Environmentally Sensitive Area (ESA), wildlife seen by visitors on the farm which includes badgers, bats, brown hare, deer, foxes & otters. There are also many species of birds - large & small.

Outside the cottage, a post n' rail fence secures the garden area with picnic table etc. A path & steps lead down to the Cossarshill Burn where there are seats by the rocky pools & waterfall.

Our aim is to provide guests with a place to stay that feels like a home from home. Every window has an enviable view so that you can sit and enjoy the scenery & birds outside without leaving your chair or bed! The cottage is thoughtfully furnished and decorated with your comfort in mind. Cottage amenities include:

Double bedroom.
Twin bedroom with en suite facilities.
Bathroom with shower over.
Well-equipped kitchen.
Large sitting/dining room with a 55’’wall-mounted TV. All Streaming Services available using guests own passwords.

The woodland by Elspinhope has a mass of wildflowers, rare butterflies and red squirrels, a lovely place to be. Step out of the door and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the unspoiled Ettrick landscape or visit some of the historic border towns and places of interest and great beauty.
