Westermill Farm Cottages

Summary

Westermill Farm Cottages are tucked away at the end of a private valley, deep in the rugged heart of Exmoor. Stunning sceneries surround each cottage on the family-run 500 acre working hill farm; home to our prize-winning herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle and flock of Cheviot sheep. There is an abundance of wildlife and a haven for birds and wildflowers.

The cottages are located in the heart of the International Dark Sky Reserve which means you are perfectly located for some excellent stargazing; you just need to look upon a clear night!

The cottages provide delightful and comfortable accommodation for families of up to 7 people. They are well equipped with cosy wood burners and full central heating. Hot water is provided by our eco-friendly biomass boiler using wood grown on the farm. The cottages also include TVs, upstairs and downstairs bathrooms (for the two storey cottages), fully fitted kitchens and verandahs (dependant on cottage).

Molinia Cottage

Molinia is one of our larger cottages (two-storey) and can sleep up to 7 people. It stands in a secluded corner in the same paddock as Bracken cottage with a grass surrounding it.

Gorse Cottage

Gorse can sleep up to 7 people (single storey). It is our oldest original log cabin sourced from Finland and built by the Edwards family. It has the real log cabin appeal. Gorse has recently undergone a revamp, making the kitchen larger and more open plan, perfect for a family getaway.

This new built cottage shares many of the features of our other cottages with the warmth and style of wooden interiors, sleeping up to 5 people. It has underfloor heating, a downstairs wet room and your own private parking spot. It also has your own private veranda with table and chairs, perfect for dinner outside amongst the wilderness.

Ling Cottage

Ling is one of our smaller cottages sleeping up to 4 people. It is situated in the bottom paddock next to Whortleberry Cottage with a little brook running alongside. The cottage is named after heather which carpets the moorland, turning to a vivid pinky/purple during August.

Whortleberry Cottage

Whortleberry is one of our smaller cottages sleeping up to 4 people. It is situated in the bottom paddock next to Ling cottage and faces south. It sits beside a small larch copse which boasts a large number of wild birds.

Holly Cottage

This new built cottage shares many of the features of our other cottages with the warmth and style of wooden interiors, sleeping up to 5 people. It has underfloor heating, a downstairs wet room and your own private parking spot.

General Information

There is a large drying room and laundry room on the campsite. We can provide a cot and highchair at no extra charge.

Visiting Exford & Exploring Somerset:

Westermill makes an ideal base for exploring the open moorland, wooded valleys and spectacular coastal scenery or just simply for relaxing and escaping the humdrum of everyday life. Visitors can enjoy the peace and serenity of the farm as Westermill does not border any roads. You can walk directly from your door onto the farm walks and beyond - no need to drive your car. Westermill Farm is fascinating to explore on four circular walks beside the River Exe.
