Blairquhan Castle Holiday Cottages

Summary

The Blairquhan Estate offers eight delightful holiday cottages in Straiton. Our cottages in Maybole are surrounded by glorious Ayrshire countryside.

Kennedy Cottage

Kennedy Cottage is one side of a courtyard forming part of Blairquhan Castle. The stone carvings on the cottage date back to 1575. Downstairs is a fully equipped kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. A large living room comes with comfortable soft seating and a TV. A bedroom has two single beds. Upstairs there is a shower room/toilet and two more bedrooms (one with a double bed and one with a double bed and a single bed).

McIntyre Cottage

Mclntyre Cottage has a large, fully equipped kitchen/dining/living room upstairs with electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer dryer, digital TV. You can enjoy spectacular views over the valley of the River Girvan. Downstairs there are two bedrooms, one double and one twin. A bathroom is available as well.

Farrer Cottage

Downstairs there is a large living room with comfortable soft seating and digital TV. A fully equipped kitchen comes with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and dishwasher. Upstairs there is a bathroom and a separate shower cubicle and three bedrooms (one with a double bed and two with two single beds in each).

Wauchope Cottage

The cottage has a large living room with comfortable soft seating, a digital TV and adjoining open plan dining room. The fully equipped kitchen has an integral hob and oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. A bathroom (with shower over the bath) is downstairs. Upstairs there are three bedrooms with twin beds and one family bedroom with a double and single bed. A second bathroom comes with s bath and separate shower cubicle.

McDowall Cottage

McDowall Cottage was converted from a former Garden Bothy and built around 1800. The recently refurbished cottage is on the garden wall of Blairquhan Gardens. Downstairs McDowall Cottage has a dining room/living room with comfortable soft seating and digital TV. A fully equipped kitchen comes with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. A bathroom is available and a bedroom comes with a double bed. Upstairs there is a bedroom with two single beds.

Cuninghame Cottage

Cuninghame Cottage is a recently refurbished property on the garden wall of Blairquhan Gardens. It was built originally as a potting shed for the gardeners. Living accommodation was later added in 1995. The two houses were knocked together and an unusual and attractive cottage was created. Cuninghame Cottage has a downstairs living room with comfortable soft seating and digital TV. The adjoining open plan fully fitted kitchen includes a washing/dryer, under the counter fridge and freezer, cooker and microwave oven. A double room and one twin room are downstairs, and another twin room and play room are upstairs.

Gardens Cottage

Gardens Cottage is a recently refurbished detached bungalow near the walled garden. The cottage has a living room, kitchen, bathroom, twin bedroom and double bedroom. It is tastefully decorated and comes with a fully fitted kitchen.

MacKenzie Cottage

Our newly refurbished cottage is perfect for a relaxing break away. Downstairs there is a large living room, kitchen, double bedroom and a bathroom with a shower over bath. Upstairs we have a double room, one twin room and one family room which includes a double bed and single bed. A second bathroom comes with a shower.

Visiting Straiton & Exploring Ayshire

We are the perfect base for exploring the local area. You can enjoy a game of golf on one of the famous South Ayrshire links courses. The two Open venues of Turnberry and Troon are within 35 minutes’ drive. At Prestwick, 30 minutes away, there took place the first 16 Open Championships in the world. Two interesting local courses at Maybole and Girvan are worth playing at as well. Only 10 miles away is the clifftop Culzean Castle, the flagship property of the National Trust for Scotland.
