Nether Barr Steading offers self catering accommodation situated around a lovely stone built courtyard just outside of Newton Stewart in the beautiful county of Dumfries & Galloway. We are set in 15 acres of farmland with magnificent views towards the Galloway Hills.

The Bothy Sleeps 2

This popular lodge has two large picture windows enjoying uninterrupted views to the East and South. The downstairs of the Bothy has a large open plan living/dining area with newly refurbished fitted kitchen, refurbished bathroom with shower (over bath). The king size bedroom upstairs is large enough to be used as a family room with the addition of Z-beds.

The Byre Sleeps Up To 6

Our largest lodge ideal for a family. The ground floor has a spacious, airy lounge, which enjoys views over the Cree towards the Galloway Hills. Downstairs there is a dining room/kitchen, a twin bedroom and a newly refurbished bathroom. Upstairs there is another twin room and a king size bedroom and a second toilet with walk in shower.

The Dairy Sleeps Up To 4

A two storey lodge with the downstairs providing a large open-plan area with a lounge/diner and fitted kitchen. The Dairy enjoys the same views as the Byre. There is a bathroom downstairs and a toilet with walk in shower upstairs. The king and twin bedrooms are both situated upstairs in this lodge.

The Hay Loft Sleeps Up To 3

This two storey lodge has an entrance hall with steps down to a lounge/dining area with fitted kitchen. The picture windows in the lounge look out across the River Cree to the Galloway Hills beyond. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one king and one single and a newly refurbished bathroom with shower (over bath).

The Hen Hoose Sleeps Up To 2-3

This small lodge has an open plan downstairs incorporating a lounge, dining area and newly refurbished fitted kitchen. The refurbished bathroom is downstairs and has a bath with shower (over bath). Upstairs is a double bedroom and small twin room. This small lodge has an outlook onto our 12 acre field but the cottages above have better views.

The Harness Room Sleeps Up To 4

A smaller lodge but sleeps up to three in two decent sized rooms. All on one level, it has a shower room, one double and one twin room and an open plan living/kitchen area. This can sleep 4 but is more comfortable for 2-3 people. Not the same views as other lodges but has a large picture window overlooking the courtyard.

Local Area

Nestled in a peaceful area in southwest Scotland and yet within walking distance or a short drive from Newton Stewart for shopping and the gateway to the Galloway Forest Park, there is plenty to see and do in Dumfries & Galloway. This is an ideal spot for mountain biking, we are close to Kirroughtree and Glentrool, part of the 7 stanes. We can offer short breaks all year round.
