Highcross Camping Coach & Living Van offers unique self catering accommodation in Whitecross near Netherbury. Our camping coach and living van have been beautifully renovated to offer accommodation in a stunning countryside location. We are a great base for exploring a range of attractions in Bridport and Dorset.
Originally a Victorian carriage on the London, Brighton, and South Coast Railway, this camping coach now provides self catering accommodation while preserving many beautiful features from its historic past, such as gleaming brass luggage racks and leather window straps. It includes a fold-out double bed, a kitchen equipped with a fridge, Belfast sink and black slate work surface, as well as a bathroom with an electric shower, a flushing toilet, hand basin and heated towel rail. Guests can stay cosy with the original French Art Nouveau stove, an electric heater and supplied hot water bottles for added comfort.
This living van dates from 1906 and would have been towed by a steam roller and used by workmen repairing the roads. The lovingly restored van comes with two single beds or one double bed (converted from a table and bench). Facilities include a wood burning stove. Outside there is a private garden and a table and chairs with deckchairs. A lovely place to admire the views from. A pond is in the neighbouring garden and so if you are bringing young children please be aware of this.
A first class dining option is available in the dining carriage. The saloon dates from 1876 and is the oldest surviving carriage of the former London & South Western Railway. The saloon is available for hire, allowing guests to enjoy a first dinner prepared by a professional cook or afternoon tea.
Lots of attractions are in the local area, including lots of beaches. West Bay is a fishing harbour which is perfect swimming in the sea and cliff walk. Burton Bradstock also has a beach, safe swimming and excellent cliff walks. Abbotsbury Children’s Farm has an indoor play area and you can feed the animals, a great day out for all the family.
