Chesil Cottages offers self catering accommodation Portland. The two cottages in Dorset offer the perfect base to explore the local area. We are only a five minute walk to Chesil Gove, the eastern end of the Chesil Beach, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Originally built in 1825, the stone built cottages offer modern accommodation whilst retaining its original character. Each cottage has Wi-Fi and we can provide a high chair and travel cot. For those beautiful Summer evenings, we have a BBQ & garden furniture. Ideal for a spot of al fresco dining.
On the ground floor is a spacious lounge/diner with dining table and chairs. The living area includes a TV with DVD player, wood burner and open fire, leather sofa and chair. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a range of appliances: range cooker with hood, dishwasher and washer dryer. A large enclosed shower and separate bath are on this floor as well. On the first floor is a double bedroom with two single beds and a further double room. A further double room with two single beds and a double room are on the second floor.
On the ground floor is a spacious lounge/diner with extendable dining table and six chairs. The living area includes a large sofa, chair, TV with DVD player, wood burner and open fire. A fully equipped kitchen includes granite surfaces, full Miele appliances, electric hob, microwave, washing machine and dryer. A large shower room is on this floor as well. On the first floor is a double room and a large bathroom with enclosed shower and bath. Further bedrooms are available on the second floor: double room with two single and a double room with double bed and a single.
During your stay on the Isle of Portland there’ll be plenty of things to do and see. Portland is an ideal place for walking and savouring the glorious scenery. Take a walk along the high West cliffs to Portland Bill or take the East cliffs along to Church Ope and try to spot the newly reintroduced Portland Goats. A ten minute walk from the cottages is Portland Castle. Overlooking Portland Harbour sits a former castle of King Henry V111 – built in the 1540s to protect against French & Spanish invasion.
Portland’s beaches are some of the best along the Jurassic (South) Coast and in the country. If you’re looking for long, sandy beaches then you’ll be better suited to Weymouth but if Fishing, Snorkeling, Rock Pools and general sunbathing peace & quiet, Portland will be perfect for you.
Weymouth is within a 15 minute drive and has may wonderful attractions to explore. Nothe Fort has a labyrinth of underground tunnels and passageways guide you through a genuinely unique experience. Located just outside of the town centre is Sea Life Park. The ever growing attractions and sanctuary make this an unforgettable day out.
