About Cadhay
Whether you are looking for a place to stay on holiday, a day out or a venue for your special day, Cadhay offers it all. The house and gardens are open to the public every Friday afternoon from May through to September. These days include guided tours of the house which recount its history dating back to the early 15th century. The house is licensed for Weddings and many couples have taken advantage of the Manor House and its grounds for their special day. We are also privileged to host many parties and gatherings of family and friends. Cadhay offers a blend of history and charm within the peace and tranquillity of the Devon countryside.We recognise that a lot of couples and families want to bring their dog with them when they get away for a short break. To accommodate this, we’ve made sure that all our Luxury Cottages and the whole Cadhay Estate is dog friendly. Cadhay itself and the whole of East Devon provide you with many great walks to get out with your loyal friend. You can explore the Otter Valley or get away for a long walk on the South West Coastal Path.
For guests who are looking to stay at Cadhay, we offer four accommodations for you to choose from. All of which have been tastefully decorated and furnished throughout, providing a luxurious base from which to explore Devon.
The Manor House: For groups of families and friends who are looking to get together, The Manor House is a magical place to stay for those special occasions. A truly remarkable and unique holiday home that can accommodate up to 22 people. The house exudes the history and grandeur of centuries past, whilst offering all modern amenities you need for an enjoyable self catering break away.
The accommodation is set over three floors, in tastefully decorated and high-quality rooms. You can choose whether to stay in a traditional four-poster bed or a more contemporary version handcrafted by Cadhay’s furniture-maker owner. Alternatively, you can sleep under the eaves in the cosy attic rooms.
Sleeps up to 22 people in 12 bedrooms.
The Coach House: A large cottage that overlooks the main house. It can sleep up to 6 people and is a beautiful holiday home for you and your group. Inside you will find period features, tasteful décor and beautiful furnishings. This cottage has a double room, twin room and adjustable room which can be set up as a king-size or twin bedroom depending on your requirements. All bedroom shave en suite facilities.
The ground floor is spacious with a well-equipped kitchen/dining room and a large lounge which has an extremely homely wood burner as the centrepiece. In the winter, you can sit back and relax on our comfortable sofas with the wood burner roaring in the background. Floor-to-ceiling windows with double French doors providing views and access to a front lawn.
The Stables: Set over two floors, this comfortable and spacious cottage includes everything you need for an enjoyable holiday, whilst providing you with a luxurious base to rest and relax in. It overlooks Cadhay House and opens directly into the walled garden which has been converted into allotments. You will find all the equipment you would expect from a modern and luxurious holiday cottage, including a well-proportioned kitchen. The cottage also includes three bedrooms; one twin room, the other two rooms (one en suite) can be super-king doubles or twin bedrooms which together comfortably sleep up to 6. There is an additional family bathroom and downstairs cloakroom.
The ground floor is spacious with a well-equipped kitchen/dining room which has an extremely homely wood burner as the centrepiece plus an intimate TV lounge/study. In the winter you can sit back and relax on our comfortable chairs with the wood burner roaring in the background. There are large French windows that offer views of Cadhay.
The Cider Press: Perfect for couples, this cosy holiday home has been converted into a beautiful holiday home for two, offering a relaxing and spacious place to stay that still includes all the charm and character you would expect in all our other properties. From the well-proportioned kitchen/diner to the delightful bedroom, you will find a mixture of old-world charm and modern comforts that make for an enjoyable stay.
From the lounge, you can reach the patio through the French doors. Here you can take in the views across East Hill and the surrounding countryside. For those who are wanting a relaxing break in quiet and peaceful surroundings, The Cider Press is the perfect place to stay.
Visiting Ottery St Mary & Exploring Devon
Ottery is a peaceful and beautiful town, with excellent independent shops offering local food as well as one of the best wine merchants in the South West. If you want to go out for a meal, there are plenty of great pubs and restaurants on your doorstep.East Devon is an ideal place to enjoy walks along the lovely Otter Valley, Woodbury Common, the South West Coast Path plus Exmoor and Dartmoor.
