Woody Bay Cottage provides outstanding self-catering accommodation near Lynton in North Devon, perfectly positioned at the foot of Woody Bay. Surrounded by stunning coastal scenery, the cottage offers breathtaking views across the bay and the famous Valley of Rocks. Its peaceful location makes it an ideal base for exploring Exmoor National Park, with its miles of walking trails, dramatic cliffs, and picturesque villages, as well as a variety of nearby attractions along the North Devon coast.
The cottage sleeps up to seven guests plus space for a cot or camp bed, with four beautifully furnished bedrooms, including two king rooms, one twin and one single. Guests are provided with soft fluffy towels, luxury Secret Linen and Toast bedlinen and locally made toiletries from the Lynmouth Soapery and Land & Water.
Inside, the cottage combines period charm with modern comfort. The sitting room and snug both feature Smart TVs and Blu-ray DVD players, as well as Roberts Bluetooth speakers and radios. Wi-Fi, board games and books are also available for entertainment. Guests can relax by the open fire in the sitting room or the log burner in the dining room, with enough logs provided for your first fires. The house is sustainably heated via an air source heat pump, while hot water comes primarily from solar panels and the water supply is sourced from a private deep spring borehole. Laundry facilities include a washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board, iron and washing tablets. Hair dryers are provided in the king bedrooms and a travel cot and high chair are available for families. Please note that the cottage has some very steep steps.
The large kitchen and dining area are perfect for family meals, with a dining table that seats up to eight people. Facilities include an electric cooker and hob, large freestanding fridge-freezer, dishwasher (with tablets provided), microwave, toaster, Grind One Nespresso-style coffee machine and cafetières. Guests will find complimentary tea from Exmoor Tea and Grind coffee pods to start their stay and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed to cook delicious meals. For days out, there’s a cool bag, ice blocks, plastic glasses, enamel mugs and plates and a picnic blanket for use on the beach.
Outside, the cottage features an enclosed garden with a large outdoor dining bench and a sunny terrace overlooking the bay. The terrace has a small table, chairs, and bench seating, ideal for taking in the stunning sea views. Guests are just moments from the path that leads down to the beach, and there is parking for up to three cars directly outside the property. Access to the cottage is via moderately steep steps with a handrail for support if needed.
Above Woody Bay lies open countryside, making us a great base for walking and observing the local wildlife. Arlington Court consists of lots of treasures to see, including model ships and shells. The Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway has a water-powered cliff railway which is the perfect way for admiring the landscape. A range of attractions are in the local area, including:
