This is a luxurious self-catering property located in a truly unique setting. Perfect for couples, honeymooners, families of all ages and walkers, this charming Lake District farmhouse provides a secluded escape on the northern side of Skiddaw. Situated at the foot of the renowned Whitewater Dash waterfall, the property offers stunning views down to Bassenthwaite Lake, with the Solway Coast and even Scotland visible in the distance. This traditional stone farmhouse combines modern amenities with the warmth and comfort of two open fires, offering peace and tranquility. The ground floor features underfloor heating throughout, while the upstairs is centrally heated with radiators. The accommodation includes space for 6 adults plus children, with a cot and high chair provided at no extra charge. On the ground floor, you'll find a well-equipped kitchen with an Aga range cooker, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, microwave, washing machine and dryer. There is also a sitting room with an open fire, a dining room with a farmhouse table and chairs, a wet room with a lavatory and a drying room. Upstairs, the farmhouse offers three bedrooms: two with double beds and one with twin beds. All bedrooms are furnished with a wardrobe and chest of drawers. Step back in time and experience the rustic, raw luxury of staying in one of the few remaining traditional Cumbrian longhouses, preserved in its original charm, untouched by modern society. Thorny Crag has been thoughtfully restored and features low beams as one of its authentic elements. On the ground floor, you'll find a kitchen equipped with a woodburner, cooker and cooking facilities, as well as a shower room with a toilet. Upstairs, there's a lounge area, two double box beds and a single bunk box bed, offering a unique and comfortable stay.The Byre - Sleeps 6
Thoughtfully converted from a traditional Cumbrian longhouse it also retains its original features such as low beams. The ground floor offers a living area with a woodburner, cooker and cooking facilities, along with a shower room and toilet. Upstairs, the loft accommodation includes two double box beds and two single beds, providing a unique and comfortable stay.Please note, due to our rural location there is no wifi, this is great for a digital detox! Plus there is a half mile walk to Thorny Crag & The Byre, we can carry your luggage via quad bike and trailer for you.
