Stable Cottage offers self catering accommodation in the peaceful hamlet of Stanger. We are halfway between Cockermouth and Lorton in the northern part of the Lake District National Park, set in a scenic countryside location.

We are situated on a farm at the end of a no-through lane, with the River Cocker flowing by. We enjoy countryside views, footpaths and a bridleway are right on our doorstep.

This self-contained barn conversion comes with a first-floor open plan area with a spacious lounge, kitchen and dining area. On the ground floor there are two bedrooms (a double and a twin), a shared bathroom and a small utility area. Additionally there is a WC on the first floor.

Heating is providing by storage heaters, whilst an open fire in the lounge will keep you cosy in the winter months. Hot water is provided by solar panels back up by an immersion heater.

Seasonal farm produce (vegetables and fruit) is available, whilst doorstep milk delivery can also be arranged.

Stanger offers a great pathway for exploring the Lorton Valley, Loweswater, Crummock and Buttermere. The Western lakes of Ennerdale and Wastwater are within easy reach, a great place for a picnic on a warm summer’s day. The market town of Cockermouth is two miles away and home to an array of cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops. Attractions to visit include:
