Surprise View Cottages are a pair of self catering holiday homes on a farm just outside Gillamoor, near Kirkbymoorside in North Yorkshire. The farmstead is nestled in a beautiful part of the North York Moors National Park and provide home from home accommodation that is ideal for a relaxing break away.

Each of our holiday cottages has a south facing stone paved patio area and boasts stunning views. There are flower troughs alongside the millrace, garden furniture and surrounding fields with grazing sheep, making each cottage the perfect base for those who want to escape to the country

This holiday cottage has entrance leading to two bedrooms, 1 double, 1 twin, both with vanity units, drawers and fitted wardrobes. The bathroom has bath suite with toilet and washbasin & shower over bath. There is an internal staircase to the first floor which has a high beamed lounge with log burning stove set in a brick on stone wall, spacious fitted kitchen & dining area; this can also be accessed by a separate outside stone stairway. Fitted carpets throughout the cottage with pretty fabrics and furnishings make this a perfect home from home.

A Gold Award cottage full of charm and character. The ground floor has oak flooring in hallway and kitchen/dining room and beams throughout. Off one side of the hall there is a carpeted lounge which has two stone walls and a flame electric stove set in a brick fireplace. French windows and arrow windows give panoramic views over the lower end of Farndale valley and woods; comfortable seating and a smart TV allow for complete relaxation. The well-fitted kitchen and dining room has one stone wall and arrow windows with French windows giving access to another patio area overlooking the farmstead below and full views of the North York Moors moorland edge only a few hundred yards away.

The first floor has 2 bedrooms, 1 double and 1 twin, both with fitted vanity units, drawers, wardrobes and enclosed shelf space. Each has good views over open countryside. The bathroom has bath suite, washbasin, toilet and shower over bath and plenty of fluffy white towels; bed linen is co- ordinated and plentiful.

Being located on the edge of the North York Moors makes us a walker’s & cyclist’s paradise. Guests to the holiday cottage have immediate access to fields, tracks, woods and a network of public footpaths including the link walk; you can walk out leaving your car behind! Named after the well known, panoramic view looking down from the nearby church at Gillamoor; they are only 1 mile from the picturesque village of Hutton-le-Hole with its renowned Ryedale Folk Museum.

Even though in the heart of the country, they are central for cycling and touring the area, being only 25 miles from York, Whitby & Scarborough. They have a wealth of historic Abbeys, Churches and Castles on the doorstep as well as major attractions like Castle Howard, North York Moors Railway, & Flamingoland.

There are shops and services in the nearby market towns of Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside and Pickering.
