We are the perfect base for couples, families, friends or a group of 13 people who are looking to explore the Snowdonia National Park.
The Poor House
This spacious property sleeps up to 6 people and is perfect for a relaxing getaway. The house dates from 1774 and is tastefully furnished throughout. A cosy sitting comes with comfy seating and an LED TV to catch your favourite show on. A well-equipped kitchen includes a range of appliances for cooking up a storm: fridge/ freeze, dish washer, microwave, filter coffee, toaster, electric kettle, induction stove/grill/oven, hand held food processor and washing machine. Outside there is a lovely courtyard garden with seating and a BBQ, the perfect spot for al fresco dining when the sun is shining. Our charming property has been beautifully converted from a Grade II Listed Georgian barn. This luxurious barn comes with a well-equipped kitchen including a fridge/freeze, dishwasher, microwave, filter coffee, toaster, electric kettle, induction stove/ grill/oven, hand held food processor and washing machine. After a busy day exploring the area unwind in the sitting room which has seating and a 32’’ LED TV. Outside there is a patio area with a table and chairs, plus a BBQ for al fresco dining. This cottage has been sympathetically renovated from a Grade II Listed barn to offer high-quality accommodation. Cook up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen which has a fridge/freeze, dishwasher, microwave, filter coffee, toaster, electric kettle, induction stove/grill/oven, handheld food processor and washing machine. Unwind in the sitting room which has an 32’’ LED TV. Outside relax with a glass or two on the patio area which comes with seating. A BBQ is also available. In addition to providing quality accommodation, Abercelyn Guest House and Cottages are situated in a peaceful location, just a short stroll from the Lake Bala and close to the market town of Bala which provides a choice of pubs, restaurants and shops. A short walk from Abercelyn along a mountain stream you will find traditional mixed woods with, at the appropriate time of the year, a carpet of bluebells. The local hills provide uncrowded walking in three mountain ranges (Aran, Arenig, Berwyn) with Cader Idris and the Rhinogs a short drive away. This part of Snowdonia offers many possibilities for outdoor activities including whitewater rafting at the nearby National Whitewater Centre (Canolfan Tryweryn) canoeing and sailing on Lake Bala, mountain biking at several centres, including the internationally known Coed y Brenin.Other activities available include go karting, quad trekking and pony trekking. Other parts of the Snowdonia National Park are easily reached by car including Snowdon, the many beaches, castles, railways, mines and other tourist attractions.
