Duffryn Mawr Cottages are a collection of award-winning self-catering holiday homes, located in a beautiful part of Glamorgan, just a few minute's drive from Pendoylan. Our holiday homes are a couple of miles from Cardiff, Cowbridge, Cardiff Airport and just off junction 34 of the M4.

About Duffryn Mawr Cottages

Our holiday cottages offer comfortable and affordable accommodation in a peaceful, private, rural location. Our aim is to make your break in The Vale of Glamorgan as comfortable and stress-free as possible with the promise of a warm welcome. We have 4 self-catering holiday homes available, these include:

The Loft

This spacious apartment-style accommodation has a lovely family room with a double bed and a single. The stunning views from this bedroom are from a Juliette balcony over the 'Secret Garden' and beyond over the fields.

The living area has two double sofas, fully carpeted and with a flat-screen tv. It is open plan to the kitchen which has a large breakfast bar. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your self-catering needs. It boasts a fridge, microwave, kettle, 4-slice toaster and coffee maker. Cooker and four-ring ceramic hob. Pans, crockery, cutlery and glassware provided. Dining table to seat 6 diners.

Downstairs is the twin bedroom adjacent to the brand new bathroom with over-bath shower. A washing machine is provided under the stairs.

There is ample, safe, off-road parking. Guests in the Loft have full access to the Secret Garden which is a large lawned garden surrounded by rose beds with evening lighting. A fire pit and/or bbq are available upon request for a small cost.

Pets are welcome upon request and for an additional nightly charge of £10 per pet. We do have restrictions on size and some breeds.

Prices start from £100 per night (3 nights minimum) or £560 per week.

King Fisher Cottage

Kingfisher cottage has been sympathetically converted in an old stone barn. It has a communal front door which leads to the private internal door leading into the hallway. On the right is the twin bedroom and on the left is the double room (king-size bed) both with wardrobes with full-length mirrored doors. They are made up and ready for your arrival with cotton-rich linen.

In between the bedrooms is the newly fitted spacious bathroom with over-bath shower.

Along the curved corridor is the kitchen/living area. The small living area has two small two-seater sofas and a dining table with 4 foldaway chairs. Flat-screen TVs and soft light table lamps. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, four-ring gas hob fridge/freezer compartment, microwave, kettle, 4 slice toaster, cafetiere. Pans, cutlery, crockery and glassware are provided.

Just outside Kingfisher Cottage is a patio area with a picnic table! A fire pit and/or bbq are available upon request for a small charge.

Swallow Cottage

Swallow Cottage is the next door cottage to Kingfisher Cottage. Turn right once you have entered the communal front door into Swallow Cottage where you find the double bedroom (King size bed).

Next to the bedroom is the fairly newly fitted bathroom with an over-bath shower.

The living area has two comfy chairs with a footstool looking through the panoramic window onto the patio and facing the flat screen TV. The two windows overlook the large field that is currently sown with maize. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, 4-ring gas hob, microwave, kettle, toaster and cafetiere. Pans, cutlery, crockery and glassware are provided.

Just outside Swallow Cottage is a patio area with a picnic table! A fire pit and/or bbq are available upon request for a small charge. Adjacent to this patio is Swallow's Nest which is a cosy little shepherd hut with a bunk bed, desk and a flat-screen TV so ideal for kids as an additional bedroom or perfect for those 'working remotely.

There is ample, safe, off-road parking. Guests in Swallow Cottage have full access to the Secret Garden which is a large lawned garden surrounded by rose beds with evening lighting. A fire pit and/or bbq are available upon request for a small cost.

The Hideaway

The Hideaway is a super cute hand-built shepherd's hut nestled into the corner of the Secret Garden. It has a double pull-down bed with cotton-rich linen. When this is put away there is a fold-out table for dining. A kitchenette equipped with electric 2 ring hob, sink, microwave and fridge with freezer compartment. Pans, crockery, cutlery and glassware are provided.

The shower room with toilet, hand basin and water heater.

Step outside onto the deck and you find a bench which underneath you will find two comfy fold-out camping chairs. A patio table and two chairs for alfresco dining.

Visiting Cardiff & Exploring Glamorgan

The beautiful unspoilt Heritage Coast is a few miles away with superb walks and scenery. Just a 15-minute drive will bring you to the sand dune system of Merthyr Mawr which stretches all the way to Porthcawl, the beautiful Ogmore Estuary and beach. Horse riding of all standards is available here and is a must but booking is advised.

There are an abundance of castles in Wales including Castell Coch, Caerphilly Castle and Cardiff Castle being just on our doorstep and a real must is the Museum of Welsh Life at St Fagans Castle. For golf enthusiasts take your pick from The Vale Golf and Country Resort, The Royal Porthcawl Links course and the Rolls of Monmouth to name but a few and all a short drive away. For horse racing enthusiasts Chepstow and Cheltenham racecourses are easily accessible and Carmarthen is now home to our excellent new course 'Ffos Las'. Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan are so diverse with activities, sites and interests you will be coming back for more.
